I used to sneak home rodents all the time as a kid, but for some reason the box with holes kept giving it away.

We got my cat right before I was born. . .she's now over eighteen years old and still thriving. . .amazing really. . .

Yeah we had a burmese blue cat called Jasper, he lived for 14 years, I think he died when I was 10. I've heard mongrol cats, if that's the right word, live longer than pedigree cats. Acouple of months after Jasper died I got my very own cat, whom I called Milo, but he got run over after less than a year. ;[

He died on some day around easter, I remember that because my cousins came over to visit on the day he died, which sucked balls, I had to put on a brave face all day.

You Candans shouldn't drink when you name your towns. *shakes head*

What's wrong with naming a place after a fruit or the Latin word for 'queen'?

That's right; I live in the queen city.

Well since I don't know Latin, I concluded that Candans drink and then name towns. =D

I'll probably get something cheap, and easy to take care of. Are rats low maintenance?

Yeah, I feed mine dog food that's 15 bucks for a small-ish bag, noodles, and nuts. The combo lasts about a month, I feed them once a day, water once a day, clean once a week.

Bedding for a month costs around 32 a month.

So if you just got petstore food it might be cheaper, it would be like...53 dollars a month, or something like that.

Cage would have to be at least 3 levels, a chinchilla cage is what I use, it cost me 150-200, in that range, but likely could get used ones for cheaper. Hamocks and such aren't nessisary but they love them. You need 2 rats if you can't spend time with the rat every day. Two rats would be 20 bucks at a petstore, unless you find a breeder.

They're not that expensive to take care of, in my opinion. Compared to a dog or cat.

That sounds about what the cost of a Degu/pair of degus would be, not counting the cleaning dust.

I wonder if I could get a rat and a degu.

That'd be cool. I'm probably going to get one when my girlfriend comes down to visit. Maybe two. Something for her to play with and keep herself occupied with while I'm at work.

Ok, Rats are predators and can be agressive, so any any animal would be a bad idea. Also, I know from experience that it's best to get two rats that have been together from birth, or lived together for a while. My two girls don't get along.

That's the thing with rats, lol, they've got attitudes.
