I call it the "Surplus Period" because you are forced to save money. I'm really excited for the week after my birthday, or as I call it, the "Period of Gift Fulfillment" when I get to go buy all the games I didn't get. I have a June birthday as well. I think you are crazy. The "Surplus Period" is called "saving your money for things you really need". Apparently your family does not give you gifts that you actually enjoy and seem to take pleasure in taunting you with this illusionary time period of self neglect. You're going to be 24, you're in California, buy yourself some shit you know they won't get for you. =( @Meer: Download the demo off PSN

In the demo you have unlimited power and totally buffed abilities, btw.
I've played about 5 hours of the game so far, it's amazing. I could see the side missions getting repetitive but I've only had to do the same type of mission as a repeat once. The game is really smart about figuring out where you are trying to jump and helping you land there. Very helpful for landing on cables when guys are shooting at you. Kinda worried the game will be too short but I will definitely replay at least once to do the Evil path since I'm good this time. It's fun to just free roam and kick everyone's ass too.

A few hours into inFamous and I'm very pleased so far. It is very GTA/Saints Row with its missions and territory and such.
I also have to say that very few things are as satisfying as leaping off of a ten story building, glowing with electricity, and exploding the fuck out of anyone who happens to be standing in the same city block as you are when you land. ![]() "It's on my brain, driving me insane. Really? I was kind of disappointed with it.

I'm hanging out for the new installment of Punch-Out!! Promising previews plus my love for both the NES and SNES versions makes this one sound pretty cool.

Hey Meer, instead of driving everywhere, you can always take a taxi, especially when re-doing a mission

I know, but still. That costs monies, and still takes time.

Just finished my first run-through of inFamous. Has anyone played as an evil character yet? I have no idea what I would've done in a bunch of cases without being able to self-heal off a head-shot with the good guy lightning.
Liked the ending for the most part. I almost said "wtf at open endings gaiz?!" but it wasn't left open so much as they just didn't answer a handful of things. Doesn't sound like much of a difference, but the game definitely ends. For anyone who's planning on playing, a word of... enlightenment more than warning. You can only increase your Karma rank (Guardian, Thug, Champion, etc., etc.) by making decisions during missions. Don't waste your time running around healing people for an hour hoping you'll move up to the next rank. That fills up your Karma for a power you get later in the game (and very likely may never use). ![]() "It's on my brain, driving me insane. It's on my mind, all of the time, and if it left... I thought I ranked up on live capturing someone... but the amount of karma you get from it seems to be pathetically low. I haven't started an evil character yet but I will probably just keep charging up metal objects and healing off them. The normal lightning takes no energy so you can just go crazy on most poles/trash cans/fences/corpses and then drain the energy you just put in. It's what I did for most of the game.

I wasn't surprised by the ending, the moment Kessler showed up I knew exactly how this was going to turn out.

I did that a few times, but with the energy drain off of the good guy lightning bolt and the energy drain upgrades for grinding and using your shield, it very quickly became not worth it. Still a very handy trick, though. Kami Wrote:I'm playing as a bad guy my first time through. So far I've had to be a massive dick and red lighting is awesome. I actually look forward to be being a raging asshole. Most of the support cast deserves it (admittedly, they are living in a post-apocalyptic city being ravaged by plague while the rest of the world lawlz at them). That actually segues me into another point. I was very pleased with Cole as a character. He seems very grounded, and very realistic . Even when making all the good choices to be the ultimate good guy, he doesn't turn into some naive, wide-eyed comic book idiot. ![]() "It's on my brain, driving me insane.
