Crash course on how to RP DA...
1. Trust No One. Even your closest freinds can screw you over. This doesnt actually come into play except for the DNK and Challenge lists this year.
2. Anything and everything even the small stuff can be used as good RP fodder.
3. Classic tips for a beginner in DA would be just to wing it or try to hook up with a friend when it starts. An example would be for you would be.. your first RP should be posted gettinf dropped off/located on the island and giving your characters thoughts and initial reactions.
I assume you only mean the RP style context... on how to get yourself rolling and hope this helps.

This rule tends to affect Mal more than others.

...
You sit and discuss backstabbing your own Teamates with the 3 main cohorts of it, and you are branded for life.
'06... I was going to be with Krillin and A20... I killed Nappa and would ahve went after that one chick but Murasaki killed her
'07... Me Taps and Mino talked and MIno gave us the go ahead to remove the weaker links of the Horsemen.. so we DID... Got some decent items from them. THen Tap DIed and I blew myself up
'08 I was going in clean.... Tapion backstabbed me and failed and died
Unlike those in '07 that thought got screwed... in '08 whenTapion tried it on me and shit we were still respectful towards each other...

Yeah, Mal, how dare your character convince someone to hand you the Power Up Ring officially and just never return it! Shame on you!

Now, this is intriguing. Before I continue, I don't care where people think I will place; winning events like these has never been priority one for me.
So Mal, aside from "not Kaden" who do you think the top 5 will be?
Your guess about Ashe also seems more random than anything else. Either top 4 or top 8?

Ah, DA 08, good times. Goooooooood times... That was the year me and Tempo had the GPS. Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood times.
Um, I think Mal will pull something out of his ass and win the whole thing, and Jaxx will get 2nd place.

You were talking about Bulma, Mal. That was the year both were in the tower I think it was, and Murasaki offed Bulma (who is now Xenia if I'm not mistaken). Murasaki was so messed up though that he either died of his wounds or somebody came and picked him off.
Not just Mal back-stabbed people. Captain Silver pushed the betrayal button pretty damn early in the game, and that action basically dissolved Frozen Darkness. I don't remember what year it was, but I think it was '06. 'Buukin ended up getting gutted with the spoon that year. Spence took it like a champ, though.
People should list their Top Fives!

Yeah, I was Bulma then.

This gutting people with spoons intrigues me. Was it a metaphor? Or......Will i have a oppertunity to literally gut someone with a spoon >_<

Weapons were given out in previous years. One was a spoon, and someone actually killed someone else with it.
You can trust me though, i've never betrayed anyone in DA, nor been involved in any betrayal discussion.

I...could have sworn I posted here this morning. It either got deleted, or I was half-asleep and never actually wrote anything to post.
Anyway, my top five, in order of worst to first: Orion, Ashe, Belle, Piper, and Kaden.

Yeah... I think I could give a top 6, but they would be completely interchangeable for placement.
Towards the end, I think it'll just come down to who has an off day, or can't make a deadline.
EDIT: Of course, Ander's preference could run to someone completely out of left field.
EDIT2: By "preference" I absolutely do not mean any kind of bias or favoritism. If I had to pick someone from Chubbs to be absolutely impartial, Ander would probably be my first choice. Preference, in this case, means things he considers quality as a reader and a judge. They're not going to be the same for everyone.

I agree with Kaden's statements.
And I haven't even joined yet, so I... wouldn't place any confidence in me.

I also think that whoever makes top 6 will likely involve a couple of surprises. I don't feel that Ander will knock people that frequently place in the upper ranks (Kaden, Sage, myself, Piper, Soph, etc) just to do so if we do deserve to be there, but I do feel that he also won't hold our hand and push us through in the hopes that we'll unveil our true potential in the finale if we aren't showing strength in the now. I'm also not saying that I feel anyone else has done that, just to clarify.
I could picture a rather diverse top 5 this time. I expect a few people to be up there. In no particular order, I'd call (without real deep thought in it) the same list that Shou posted but exchanging myself for Trafford. I want to say I only ever see him eliminated due to schedule reasons, which brings me to my next point.
In these types of events, I'd almost never say the person who wrote the best was the winner. We'll all have major disagreements with a number of cuts, but that's something you have to just shelf right now if you plan on joining. A large number of times it comes down to "who wrote in the 80% range but also frequently made deadlines" and you'll see that guy who amazed everyone with Shakespeare getting eliminated over one bad work week or cable outage. These things will happen. Its part of the competition (because all contests over a long duration have personal issues interrupt, that's how life works). I hated when Wizard got cut during last event, as I thought he would go a lot further. I loved his character and writing even if he didn't. But he didn't - his schedule caused him to be the weakest link for just a single round, and that's all it takes.
That said, if I do make it in, I'll be excited to roleplay with Sage and Rose again, as well as Kaden. Those three flow well with my character, though mostly in that order (I could easily picture a few abrasive moments in Kaden's approaches to "justice" than Ashe would take, for example.)

There almost definitely will be a surprise or two. My dark horse, for example, would be Shou. Of course, I'm not entirely sure you could call anyone a true dark horse on this site.
EDIT: I'd be interested in writing with your character, Ashe, by the way. For some reason, we never really did anything even when we were in the same event. Just a thought.
