I managed to check my bnet account earlier. I was looking around and suddenly noticed a SCII icon next to the words "beta information" (or something similar). I got excited and then found it was just the location where you check to say "derp, I hope I get a beta invite!"

There is a cool ladder ranking system to help ensure you play with people around your skill level and not light years beyond it. Although I'm gonna go back and see if there's an NDA I agreed to...

Nah, it's all over the place. 5 practice games, then 10 "placement" matches to determine your grouping (copper, silver, gold, platinum), and then you can earn your individual rank depending on how you perform against other ranked players. You can climb into the next group if you keep winning, so it's not like you're stuck in a low tier forever. I'm sure there are minor issues with how it works, but it seems like the best thing to happen to ladder play in a long time.

Hate: I'm probably going to have to use all of the money I've saved up over the past few months to pay off a £933 debt to stop my mother's stuff getting repossessed because her crazy stalker ex-boyfriend (now hopefully going to prison for scams/fraud) stole lots of money by taking documents from the house. Because she's a naive idiot and wouldn't listen to me when I said something like this would happen.

Believe me, I would if I could find him. This is nowhere near his first offense. This is one person I would actually murder if the law didn't prevent me from doing so. He's stolen, lied and cheated money out of lots of other people, too, who pretty much hound him now and make his life a misery, which he deserves. Unfortunately that doesn't bring the money back.

you should watch VODs of pro/high level players, and just start emulating what they do. something that a lot of lower level players lack is rapid point/click skillz and using hotkeys. i don't blame people for not using hotkeys because english versions of bliz RTS games have stupid hotkey placement that goes all over the board, even though they actually tried to make it better this time, but if you do it really cuts down on macro time.

maybe the only advice i can really give is a warning about hotkeying production buildings together as terran. say, if you put a rax with the reactor add-on first and a rax with the tech lab next, then selecting that group of buildings by that hotkey you won't be able to make advanced units that require the tech lab. if you do tech lab first and reactor second, it'll queue marines/helions/vikings to each building one at a time instead of using the reactor's two-unit production ability. (you have two ports on hotkey, lab on first and reactor second, order a banshee first from the port w/lab, then order a viking from second port, then another viking... will go to the port w/lab and sit in queue). hope bliz fixes that, because it's pretty ghey

I think I'm low enough now in the bracket that I'm playing other people who have been having minimal success such as myself. Today (and this is a LIKE) I won three games in a row (although one guy timed out) by getting a barracks up quick, lots of SCVs to mine minerals, upgraded my base to use the radar for recon and then sent in ten to twenty marines to shoot their base to hell. It worked at this level anyways, but I'll have to check out how the high level guys play.
