I say this everytime sona is on the free rotation, but I really love playing her. Just had a fantastic ranked game as her with a teemo bot. Very early on we didn't do so well against Tris + Soraka, but after we got level 6 we became ungankable due to wards/cv/eggs and everytime my ult was off cooldown we got a kill.

Then mid and early-late game I just rolled around slowing people and accidently taking champ last hits while furiously mashing Q.

I enjoy playing Sona in the same way that I enjoy watching Bob Ross... it involves no thought and I don't ever feel like I'm doing anything productive.

The fact that you can't target or aim any of her main skills is so passive, pointless, and often times detrimental to her role. As somebody who loves playing a highly active support (like Taric or Soraka), Sona is the bane of my favorite role. The power chord is a cool passive, but in the 0cs meta you really shouldn't be putting out damage with autoattacks - your time is better spent cursing as you try to find the positioning that will let you heal your goddamn carry instead of the tank holy shit that is so stupid just let me click on them.

Her ult is extremely awesome, but the rest of her kit is just sooooo boring. Blech.

I love power chord because of the -damage debuff and the slow that you get from using it with the w or e aura up. While she doesn't require any target clicking, her positioning is very important and timing the use of her spells is pretty important too. Also that ult. Man that ult. Wins teamfights all the time if you use it properly.

Agreed. A lot of people forget her other power chord effects.

Sona and Janna's ult are the two best support ults in the game.

S... My usual build on Garen is...Doran blade..Doran blade... then its Boots(Swift)/Sunfirecape/Guardian Angel.... usually... Then grab Atmas and FoN....

My 6th.... is all dependent I guess...

I was told getting IE was good.... is it really? I mean late game it doesnt do alot for its price I DONT THINK? DOES IT?

I wouldn't build it on Garen, myself. Seems like a waste.

Sunfire Cape is a terrible item. Way too expensive for the stats it gives.

IE on Garen is great, his Spin-to-Win can crit each time it hits, that's why you sometimes see that sword icon pop above the enemies head when you are spinning to win.

IE isn't very good on Garen. He gets neither utility nor survivability out of the item and he needs to itemize for both.

If you're stomping and have a stupid amount of gold, then sure, go for it. You're going to get a lot more out of staying alive long enough for a second use of your skills than you will from increasing the damage of the first use.

Sunfire is a good item, especially for Garen. Multiplicative stats are insanely good and the damage stacks up when you can stay alive (which Garen can do with said stats and his W active). It also gives him a source of magic damage which, though minor, is helpful since he's all physical.

Brutalizer is an amazing armor for Garen, especially early on. My suggestion, Mal, would be to stick one (or both) of the Doran's Blades and rush a brutalizer instead. You do miss out on the extra HP, but that's about it. Garen gets very little out of lifesteal as a stat and the damage is a wash because you're buying Longswords.

I like CDR boots on Garen most of the time because CDR is an insanely good stat on him. Merc's are still a really good choice (they always are for a bruiser) but CC is trickier on Garen since his E still does damage even if he's stunned during it. That's a judgment thing, mostly. I'd suggest running MS quints instead of boots3.

But yeah, I really don't recommend IE. At least not until you've gotten at least two, completed, defensive items. It's kind of a trap for Garen.

SO i played a bot game in lane... I learned somethings.... I MIGHT want to Smartcast somethings...

Drain stops if you cast a spell or click to attack... So you have to Fear..then drain...
