Fitness
I think I want to jump on the bandwagon, only, not for muscles. I wanna lose about...80lbs. I'm gonna cut my portions down and use an exercise bike until i shake the cobwebs loose lol.

i have very low will power, but i really really want to look good, i was watching the biggest loser last night and i was shocked at how much they lost. Makes me wish i could go on tv to lose weight lol

I should. I really should.

But I'm such a lazy bastard, and I have a horrible diet. It's no small wonder that I'm not a goddamn apartment.

One of my goals this summer is to get into better shape.

Unfortunately I am also kind of a lazy bastard sometimes when it comes to regimented exercise. Hopefully this time I'll be able to get lucky *crosses fingers*

Fighting to the bitter end is an advantage when your opponent does not wish to perish.

Fitness is a level of dedication. It doesn't matter if you are doing p90x or just running or climbing mountains or playing football or learning kung fu. Really it doesn't matter what you do. It only matters that you do something. If you want to be fit, get dedicated. And you will be surprized at how rewarding it is, because fitness is a feeling you generally feel better when you are active and eating better because you aren't putting toxins in your body and you have pushed your performance level up... so normal things are easier and healthy just feels good.

I dunno, I've been spending 4 hours in a dojo a day for the last year, so I'm speaking from experience.

The thing is with exercise is that it tends to work on diminishing returns, just because there's a limit on how fast your body can rebuild. People tend to get the idea, like Carter said, that to make a big difference you need to put in hours a day. Back when I was completely untrained, I saw significant improvement doing just 20 minutes a day. You'll make more progress on an hour a day, sure, but if you've got less time then just work hard on compound movements that hit your whole body, or something else that's time-efficient (like high-intensity interval running, as opposed to an hour long run at low intensity). The more time you put in, the better you'll be overall, but the less investment you get for your return in terms of 'efficiency'. This is just good news if you want to have a life besides exercise. =P

Thats good advice for weight training. I was talking about overall fitness. Of course I would not recomend pumping iron for four hours. Infact in the 4 hours that i am in the dojo I don't do very much weight training at all. Between hitting the bags, cardio such as suicides and isometrics such as push ups you can go all night. I'm working on a lvl of fitness not strength. For example look at smaller fighters that can go 5 5minute rounds... that is fitness.

Strength training is a whole different ball game that has a proper formula to be followed. However that also differs depending on the results you want. IE: 1) for show such as body builders and 2)ability such as your stronger fighters

Most body builders are more 'ripped' or 'chisled' however they lack the ability of someone who trains for ability such as Brock lesnar who is not chisled but a big boy all the same.

I must say. A girl at school noticed how I'm losing weight. Because she had known me when I was 300. It feels great to be losing weight.

I totally agree, I was just going for some advice for folks who wanna get good results if they don't have as much time.

I couldn't decide on posting here or the game forum...but what the heck

Any of you use or tried Wii Fit/Plus? I'm thinking of getting a wii and getting that or other fitness games, as well as cutting out stuff and maybe hoping on a bike here and there. I'm just wondering if it's actually helpful as far as the aerobics and daily workouts go?

Well Victoria, 'I' own both a Wii and Wii Fit. I'll try it out one of these days. Straight off the bat however, if you don't cheat the Wii, you're essentially following a workout schedule that you create yourself.

I personally haven't tried it, but my friend has Wii fit and she lost quite a lot of weight due to it in the beginning; I saw it at her house and its much like a game, it has fitness and yoga and all kinds of things, and because its game like its fun and you're more likely to spend a lot of time on it, so yeah if you like combining sports and game it probably works very well.

In terms of my own fitness; I'm underweight (I'm the same height and weight as my character, giving me a BMI of 16 Confused) and in terms of stamina quite fit already. Probably due to classical singing; that does wonders for your lungs, and lungs do wonders for your overal fitness.
I have terribly weak muscles though, especially in my arms and for the last three years my left shoulder has been causing me a lot of pain for unknown reasons. I've been avoiding using it as that often starts the pain so its become very weak and its only hurting more often now.
I figured if I train my arms and shoulders to be a little stronger it might actually help, and otherwise it atleast can't do any harm I think. Either way, the training doesn't hurt so I think I'll carry this on for a while and see if stuff improves.

Go to Target or something, you can get one for like 20 bucks, put it right in your door frame and do a couple reps every time you walk in. I try to do at least 10-20 every time I walk in.

I would, but I'm looking for something in the basement. I do most of my stuff at night.
