This, so much.

worrying about defaulting is pointless. it would be an amazing event if it happened because neither party has the spine for it. everyone in washington would rather be crushed under the national debt than be responisble for choosing to default on interest payments.

on the other hand, but still much related, and far more important and likely, is the danger of whatever deal they'll all cut to raise the debt ceiling. it's some small relief that so many voters are keeping a clear head about where the problem is while this default bullshitstorm is going on. http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_c...too_little

The Gang of Six plan's reduction plan was 3/4ths spending cuts and 1/4th increased revenues, the latter getting a lot of its teeth from closing corporate tax loopholes. And that still wasn't good enough for the R's.

I've seen other polls that show the majority wouldn't be opposed to raising taxes. The problem with the survey that article is using is that the wording is kind of unhelpful.

Quote:5* On the subject of taxes, what worries you more about the likely result of the debt ceiling debate—that Congress and the President will raise taxes too much or too little?

If you are given the option between being asked whether you're afraid taxes will be raised "too much" or "too little," and those are your ONLY OPTIONS ON THE QUESTIONNAIRE, of course a huge majority are going to say they're afraid of having their taxes jacked too high. It's like asking if you're afraid of having your balls stomped too hard or too little. It's just a totally useless survey.

there were a lot of problems with the gang of 6's plan.

also, the poll question doesn't specifiy whose taxes would be raised, or what would be taxed, or any sort of details. it's just a generic question to get the mood of the electorate: are people expecting that future tax hikes caused by this deal will be too high or too low. you're just making a compound assumption (assuming people are assuming what you assume they're assuming) with no evidence. blah

Yeah, but it's water soluble. I agree it's easy to make it look shitty though. I am going to guess some guy copying Internet memes isn't exactly a trained (or talented...) artist.

Hate: Mobil

So they failed to mention that both of the gas stations I frequent NO LONGER TAKE THE EXXON MOBIL CARD! Void of money in the bank or cash I had to drive home with my tank on Empty. Now my car is literally stuck in the driveway...OF MY OWN HOUSE!

It's seriously like crack in a can.

Hate: After years of eating it and knowing it would happen someday, cut my tongue on the edge of the lid. Shit getting a papercut type wound on the tongue sucks ass.

Also hate: Having to resort to physical copies of music because iTunes and amazon's mp3 store don't carry the song I want.

Is this everywhere or just there? I think my aunt has a Exxon Mobil card so I'll fill her in if it is.

No idea. Both places were UDF so it could just be UDF places.
