It's not about the champions anymore in Dominion, it's about actually developing a meta for it. The nature of the map will always make some champions more "viable" than others, yeah, but things will change.

Right now everyone's in a "this is a huge clusterfuck with cap points" meta. That will change. No clue what it will change to, but oh well.

Someone I know is bitching about "When do you think they are going to fix characters on Dominion? Slow down Rammus's powerball, etc." He fully supports them balancing Dominion and Classic versions of champs completely separately on numbers because "They are entirely different game modes, so it should be balanced as two entirely different games. Right now, Rammus (and other champs) is fucking overpowered as fuck and ruining Dominion."

My opinion? Ban him, then go bitch about one of the other (x-4) champs that are ruining your game.

That said, interested to see what approach is taken or if (like in lots of games - Magic gets this argument a lot where people want bans and then the meta actually solves the problem on its own with no bans necessary; this isn't always the case though) the meta evolves to handle it.

The Jax's I'm forced to go against regularly disagree with you.

The fact is that some champs are just flat-out better at Dominion than others. The aforementioned Jax gets geared up frighteningly fast. Without having to worry about farming, he is an absolute nightmare of damage and survivability, and his skillset makes him exceptionally good at the limited engagement size of Dominion play. Also, last time I checked, he still dodges tower shots. (Can we please get rid of Dodge from the game already?)

There are a couple heroes like that, such as Heimer and Akali. Unless the rules of Dominion are changed to make 5v5s a 'thing' again, these guys just do so well in small fights that I'm suspicious of anyone's claims that 'oh the meta will fix it.'

That came across wrong. The development of a Dominion meta has moved beyond the point where people have figured out which champs are the go-to picks/bans. That's actually a good thing, though. Once people know what's overpowered, they'll know what how to pick around it.

Get a group of people and actually try out a strategy for a dozen games or so and see what shakes out. Yes, the champions that do well in skirmishes do well in Dominion. Try something that addresses that. Ball up as a five-man group and just work your way around the map clockwise. Try shit out.

I was going to type out something about how metas have already shifted over and over, but that's boring.

There is no meta, really. People know what's strong. People will find a way to deal with it. Until then, ban the champs you don't want to deal with and pay attention to the things that surprise you.

He doesn't dodge SR towers. He used to back in beta, but they fixed that.

He was definitely doing it in CS as of a few days ago (last time I played Dominion). Got dived on my own tower while I was backing up. Tower shot at him. Big ol' DODGE popped over Jax's head and he took no damage.

Then he stunned me and I died in about a second.

Rule #3 for fighting Jax: Run!!! He's got plans of pouncing on you and then giving you an empowered fisting. And just when you realize he's got you and you want to flee... Counterstrike activate! By then the train has started rolling and the two friends coming to save you will meet you back at base soon enough =D

It's a strange mechanic. He gets the Dodge procc (as in, his spell effect triggers and he can stun) but he doesn't actually dodge the damage. This is from my experience when I play Jax.

Dodge would be cooler if more champs used it and it wasn't so RNG-y.

Dunno how they managed it in dota, but it was actually pretty balanced there. Probably because it was mostly item-based.

Dodge is dumb 100% of the time. No RNG involved in that calculation.

Edit: Totally thought this was the champion thread. I've been using lesser used champs in Dominion, like Skarner, and it's both fun and effective.

As dodge exists in LoL, it relies on RNG.

I played two games of this yesterday, a win and a loss, and I definitely didn't get the hype that you guys seemed to get. Still enjoyable but I was considering a lot more after all I read here.
