Ash, where did you train and what promotions have you worked for? I'm being serious btw. I live in NY and pretty much in my area they run anywhere from 10-15 indy shows a year ranging from some utter garbage to annual ROH events at the Manhattan Center. If you've got any sort of notoriety of the east coast I've probably heard of you.

Blade jobs are fairly easy to pull off, unlike michaels when I do a blade job I tend to cut around the hair line instead of the forehead so the hair actually covers the slice and I generally dont go all the way across. The trick to getting a decent amount of blod from a light slice is to hold your breath and force your face to turn red while your down on the mat. That can produce a decent amount of blood or at least enough to sell it to the crowd. When it comes to cutting, you got to be quick about it but you also got to be careful.

As for the scripted matches, I'm sure WWE's are scripted but on the independent circuit everything is done by word of mouth in the ring. Like for example (normally I wouldnt expose this but fuck it, media has already uncovered the secrets behind wrestling) say one guy has another guy in a chin lock, he's trying to make it look good by making strained facial expressions, so while he has the other guy in the chin lock he'll lower his head so his mouth is near the opponents ear and whisper something like "Alright, I'm going to shoot you off the ropes, duck a clothesline, take a back elbow and stay down for a moonsault" or something along those lines. Spots where your close to a wrestler is the best way to get your next moves across. Oh and the referee is also a big help in matches cause you can whisper to him what you wanna do next and he'll relay it to the opponent.

I remember one time during a match I was wrestling a friend and we were face to face "mouthing off" to each other and really we were fucking with the crowd and what we actually said was "Sup man?" - "Not much" - "I'm totally getting smashed tonight" - "Not me, I gotta get up for work tomorrow"

Things like that and it looked like we were just cussing each other out. When the fans are rowdy, they can flood out anything you say.

Yeah, there's a specific area of vein you are trying to nick with a blade job. I know a few people in the indie circuit around here that said some guys will take a bit of asperin to thin their blood a bit, which means more blood for the effort since its all watery.

As far as exposing anything, not really much that could be exposed towards me, but I get what you mean. And yeah, a lot of the time when someone is riling up the crowd, its to give their opponent a moment to catch their breath if they realize they need a sec to recollect themselves. But something most people don't think about: Yes, it may be scripted, BUT, those mats are not exactly soft either. You'd think they were like bedsprings and cushioning but nope. I can't remember precisely, as I don't think everyone uses the same, but its more like layers of particleboard on top of foam on top of more particleboard, etc. If you land correctly from something (notice moves like piledrivers; the guy's head doesn't hit the ground, his shoulders hit the other guy's legs and stops. He might touch the mat and it might not feel good, but the full impact isn't hitting his neck. It would obviously break his neck if it did.) then you are fine, if you are late and fuck up, that's when you get injured. Those ropes they line the ring with that they spring off of and shit aren't a joke either. Yeah, the tables can be sawed to break easier, and the folding chairs can have stuff done if they want, but there is impact and its not comfortable.

I think people miss the point of calling it "fake". It's rigged, yes, but you can't make a fight look convincing without people getting hurt.

I'll just say I havent worked enough promotions to get noticed in NY or the east coast. I stayed loyal to one promotion for a couple of years only to get fucked over because I didnt kiss ass while the other guy who hadn't been in near as long as I did kissed a lot of ass and became the owners favorite. So I got fed up with it and told the promoter to go fuck himself then left and wrestled for a few other promotions within my state and a state below.
