The Like/Hate Thread
Reijin Wrote:Thus why I say to level using RAF accounts.

Sadly, my friend let me get to 51 on my rogue and then ditched me by dropping the account and starting over somewhere else, so I will have to get it to 58 the hard way.

Yeah, cant think of the acronym for WoW. Royal Air Force just keeps destroying my brain.

Fighting to the bitter end is an advantage when your opponent does not wish to perish.

In your case though, I wouldn't bother continuing. Everyone quit on Uther, so unless you transferred somewhere else to play with friends, you don't really have anything to play for (its hard to keep enjoying it without a good group of friends if you don't enjoy the raid game).

I... like a pop album released in the last 10 years.

I feel dirty. ;_;

The problem I have most with WoW (it's a general problem with MMORPGs, but obviously WoW's the most prominent) is that it tends to either be something you play obsessively, or don't play at all. There's no middle ground. Almost without exception, all the people who I know play WoW can't go very long without talking about it. And when they talk about it, they do so at length. If it gets brought up in conversation or you foolishly ask them a question like "what's your favourite class?", be prepared to sit and nod for the next hour.

I've been clean almost two years now. Fuck that game.

I mainly got tired of how instances always called for you to either arduously stick the game mechanics or gtfo. If I was healer and ever tried to get in on any of the action, I'd get castrated. Then I realized that it would only get worse if I got to end game, and it just stopped being fun.

PvP wasn't fun either. WoW is just NOT something for the casual gamer. I wasn't a casual gamer when I started, but when I did start to get back into music and playing guitar, I started to feel it.

Reijin Wrote:I like that all the constant poker bitching makes me feel not so badly about when I bitch about something WoW related. I just wish I could find that webcomic about it the other day.

I'm amused that a small comment like this has basically equated to spreading crack out on the street in front of a cluster of hobos.

Still, as with anything, seeing the regular poker complaints makes me feel better, since everytime I complain about something regarding wow, I get a ten page dissertation regarding how much someone hates the game, disagrees, or "Then why do you keep playing if you constantly bitch about it?"

Same reason people still play poker or Call of Duty Sad Competitive games tend to lead to bitching or complaining. Or trash talk. Look at people deeply supportive of football teams to see another good example. "WTF, he was CLEARLY over the line! That ref is screwing them over, oh bullshit!"

Oh, and don't ever, ever go on the WoW forums. I don't know why, but for some reason everybody there has forgotten how to argue without covering their screen in spittle. The phrase "respectfully disagree" does not exist there. If you do disagree with someone, it's like a requirement that you also mock them.

I couldn't even take it whilst I was playing the game. I would spend 5 minutes there and I'd actually feel myself turning into this.

That attitude seems to have permeated through a majority of the player base, as well.

I'd argue that its a concept related to MMOs in general.

That hasn't been my experience with non-WoW MMOs.

I played the Lord of the Rings Online demo for about a week or two, and checked out the forums there. I was astonished to see that, even with little moderation, there was actually friendliness and a sense of community. Completely different. It may just have been that the community was smaller, especially since I think it was the European forums. Bigger community tends to mean more anonymity and thus less caring about how people see you, in my experience.

I like this very nice rain that's going on. I opened the door and the breeze (and rain smell) is quite nice.

Its just this nice light cool breeze rain, with that great fresh air smell wafting in. Sounds like a nice creek outside, which I kinda miss from living in the mountains.

I hate that once or twice a week I have to replace BOTH lights in my main living room light, as well as my bedroom, hallway, and others. And my kitchen's flourescent light has this flickering batman effect, which we just got replaced. The maintenance people go "Hmm, seems like the ___ is going out... Well, we'll just put this light in, should be fine for now". Cop out. So yeah, I'm now out of my huge amassment of light bulbs, and going to be lightless in the LR unless I turn on some other light in the building to shine in here. Shitty fucking wiring.

You should get those awesome bulbs that are supposed to last a year or more, then flip out and yell at the maintenence guys when the lights still go out.
