Yeah, high speed gives you a better chance to attack more often. This can be altered by different weapons which boost/lower stats. Shuriken, for instance, allow you to throw a lot in a row because they are one of (if not the) fastest weapons. It's relative to your opponent's speed though, so if you want the best results look for opponents that have low speed. If you get other speed weapons (knife, baton, mug) combined with relatively high speed you might be able to strike three or four times in a row.

There's other specials, Herculean Strength and Feline Agility, that do the same for the other stats what BoL does for speed.

Overall, I'm least impressed with the Speed stat. I would definitely prefer high Agility and only kind of prefer high Strength. Which is unfortunate because most of my brutes seem to end up with BoL.

I get a lot of Extra Thick Skin and FA or BoL on my characters, really.

Speed is awesome, personally. You haven't lived till you've seen someone charge up Fierce Brute and then go four or five hit combo someone to death with a damn knife. Its almost as hardcore as when someone charges and one shots you with FB and a Flail. Which keep in mind, won't happen as often as people get Immortality.

EDIT: Twice! Not cool at all. Second time I actually took down the bear and almost won the fight. Probably the best performance of Shield that I've seen yet.

Yeah, one of my better characters is a master of shield dickery. Oh no, the other guy is hulking out with Fierce Brute and some high-powered weapon. MAYBE I CAN FIT MY ENTIRE BODY BEHIND THIS LITTLE WOODED CIRCLE THEREBY NEGATING ALL DAMAGE.

Almost every character at high levels has it, it's one of the few things in the game that becomes more important as you get stronger. It could definitely use some tweaking, but I enjoy it anyway.

So uh, out of curiousity, if a pupil actually beats your character, does anything fancy happen? Due to some AMAZING dodging/hitting, one of my pupils got me to like 25% before I whipped out my hammer and oneshotted him, so I'm just curious.

The shield's problem is that it is 100% RNG. Sometimes you block everything and sometimes it does nothing.

Exactly. My "main" (though not fav) brute uses a shield, and her dodge is so high in addition to it. So she has nights where no one ever lays a hand on her, she's just sidestepping, jumping, and blocking everything they (and their pets) do.

Then there are nights where someone rushes in without Impact and lays a regular fist into her and she drops the damn thing.

Is anyone certain whether or not Impact has an affect on the chance to disarm a shield? My "main" brute has impact but it's still been pretty hard to tell. I think it does, but it seems pretty low compared to the chance to disarm weapons.

I suppose they could base the shield on a stat, but I'm not sure I would really be a fan of that.

Fairly certain it does. However, I think you have to "not block" to do it, and a low chance if you do block (since I've had a club fucking break through it before).
