On a random note, I was finally able to justify buying a set of pretend instruments (I was anticipating Rock Band, then they announced the UK instrument prices, roughly double that of the US). Got Guitar Hero World Tour and Greatest Hits, will definitely pick up Rock Band soon. Both drums and vocals are hella fun. How is the online band play, what with lag and such?

Fair warning. The GH instruments live up to their reputation for shit quality.

My drums don't work and I've had them for like... two months? And I've only ever used them twice.

That's lame. My original PS2 guitar still works fine after suffering years of abuse at the hands of me and my friends through the first two games. I think I prefer the style of the GH drums to the Rock Band ones though.

I didn't say "buy" drums. I'm just saying I'd rather play real drums.

I didn't call you an amateur musician, I said the world didn't need more. It's just that for some reason in every guitar hero/rock band thread on the internet ever, there's a guy who says "well I'd rather play a real instrument". Good for you, but right now I just want to play a silly rhythm game with friends who have other hobbies and haven't yet spent the large amount of time required to learn an actual instrument. Is that alright?

Dynasty Warriors can be annoying. I'll be fighting, and find some officers are terribly easy, some are rather difficult, and some can randomly kill me in two hits.

That's the way it's always gone, though. Lu Bu, for example, has always been hella jacked up on the Hu Lao Gate levels. Zhange Fei always turns into a beast when he stops to help Liu Bei escape. And so on and so forth.

Since those situations aren't replicated in, say, Empires, they use the army values and "look out, he's inspired the troops" mechanics to create poor substitutes.
