The Room of Spirit and Time
#1
Greetings!

Now added to the rule thread Characters and Traits are the rules and guidelines for using the RoSaT.

Quote:Room of Spirit and Time

Located in one the rooms located on Kami's Tower this special room has distinct properties not seen elsewhere. Upon entering the time chamber you will be presented with the option to reset either your abilities or stats. For a flat fee of 75 XP you'll be able to change one ability. Any Custom Tech's related to that ability will be locked and unusable until said pre-requisite returns. For another fee of 75 XP you will be able to change around your stat percentages. Each time you wish to enter this room you may do one of the above options per use for all of the same costs. .

If you have questions or concerns feel free to post them here.

Do yo have to roleplay training inside the room? No option to just get stronger faster (bonus XP)?

You roleplay inside the room. And no option to get stronger via XP.

We can change our abilities for free already (probably a limited number of times), unless that's now abolished.

Yeah... you can't change abilities for free.

I'll never use this.

Are you saying people haven't already, or that they can't now?

If enough people won't use this can we get a recount?
It seems pretty useless, and inaccurate with the DBZ storyline. They went there to get stronger faster, as Jaxx put it, and not to change their abilities and techniques.

Telling us you don't plan on using this is not a question, a concern, or necessary. If you don't use it, fine. It's there for people who may some day use it.

Cain, yeah it's not the same as the show. That's just... too bad for us, I guess.

I think we'll live.

But. . . Are new people not going to be allowed one ability change or something similar?

TO my knowledge, we've never had some open "HEY WHO WANTS TO CHANGE ABILITIES?" clause. I was under the impression that people had to essentially reset their character if they wish to change abilities. This provides an alternative to that.

For situations that have happened otherwise, I'm not sure what to really say about it other than I don't believe it was intended to be anything more than a temporary exception until a more solid method is put into place.

We also aren't worried about tons of people using it. This is just an implementation of "Hey, want to change an ability for another with an established character? Here's a way to do so."

We don't want to sit around going "You can go into the RoSaT once per three months to get double the xp gained, staff is going to sit around grading these while everyone fights to get inside so we can read a glorified spar fight and then tell you it was amazing and here's a ton of free points for being amazing by sparring someone!"

The old implementation caused of lot of problems in various ways. The entire old mechanic isn't even something we feel is a necessary part of the RPG. I'm sorry if its not a clone of the show, but... that wouldn't be the first thing here that isn't. If you *(entirely subjective and not in any way directed at my quoted person. In fact, none of this post is, its just using it as a standing point for a generic appeal)* feel that its useless and stupid, then that's entirely fine.

I wasn't trying to be lame, I was moreso saying "I dont see people ever using this".

This just isn't anything like the Room of Spirit and Time. This could easily be like, Baba's house or something.

Are we leaving out the part where you wouldn't actually use ANY aspect of the rpg that was implemented through the need to roleplay for it?

Im kind of with everyone else. If it isnt gonna be used to get a bigger xp gain or something like that the atleast change its name. Cuz as soon as someone see's it thats new there gonna be all omgz gotta saves moneys to get super strong super quick! So...Atleast give it a diff name or something.

And as soon as we do, everyone then goes "hey when you guys making room of spirit and time i wanna hyperbolic time chamber it up! since there isn't one, I can just say I'm roleplaying in it right? Ok, now on that slope, I want to get this judged for extra xp since this is the friggin rosat come on just like the show plz make me the strongest ever"

Can we use the RoSaT without the ability change? Just for RP purposes.

I echo others. I don't see a real need/function for it. I'm reasonably sure that I haven't even earned 75xp since the change, and people who have written enough to get that high I assume are pretty happy with their character.

It's not like I expect it to be changed, but it seems unnecessary.
