Ps3's multiplayer sucks majorly I have awesome internet here an at my grandmothers. Ps3 is laggy and alot of times just boots from games where as my old 360 ive never had a problem with.
For some reason I see that paying for xbox live is alright cuz im getting good multiplayer service unlike on ths ps3.
So...I end with this..You get what you pay for...good service or crappy quality.
I've never really had problems with my PS3's internet service.
My internet service just sucks. =(

Yeah people always use the "its free" argument when pitching the PS3. Their internet is lame and 50 bucks for one year of always satisfying Xbox Live is not that big of a deal.

The people who say 'its lame' have mostly never even used the PSN. It's the exact same as xbox live.

I have played PSN. Maybe lame was harsh, but it is worse than 360.

I do plan on eventually picking up a PS3, but right now I has no moneys...and lots of debt. But someday, I'll get to play inFamous.

The few times i played on PSN i experienced lag. Maybe it was just my location, but that was my personal experience from it. Also i just prefer the set up and feel of Xbox live than that of PSN. Im not saying I would never get a PS3 because im going to.
And Home is stupid. Give me that.

Home is completely optional. I've never actually loaded it, and don't really have any intention to.
I ask this not to be argumentative, but does anyone have anything even resemble research that supports this "XBL is a better service" stance?
Lots of people feel this way, but never have any actual reason for it. Personally, I view it as self-deception to justify paying for something that a competitor provides for free.
EDIT: Also, just because I want to make it clear, I'm not anti-Xbox. I'm anti paying for a subscription that is one of the hardest things ever to cancel. I had a very bad experience trying to get an XBL account canceled, especially since I could turn around and do the same thing on my Playstation without dealing with assholes/idiots or paying money.

Its just personal opinion. IM saying that I prefer the Xbox Live experience compared to the PS3. Some people may feel differently. I dont think 50 bucks is a lot of money to pay for a years worth of online, so i dont think i would need to make myself feel better for it. I have played both and i like one more than the other.
I have been with Sony my whole life, so its hard for me to go against them. I went from Super Nintendo to Playstation to Playstation 2 to Xbox 360.

So I went looking at stuff for the PS3. Apparently many of the newer models do not have PS2 compatibility. That makes me more than a little sad.

I wouldn't really say you're going against them. You just don't use the service.

PSN is totally not the same as XBL.
It's slower (lag is commonplace on PSN - I'm genuinely surprised if I ever lag on XBL) and more unstable.
That said, you get what you pay for and for the price of $0.00, PSN is pretty schweet.
The X360 failure rate is entirely unacceptable. Absurdly, even. I disagree about the customer service, though. I had to replace my machine and had nothing but good things to say about the customer service. Not once was I 'stranded,' so to speak. They hit a roadblock and worked out an alternative solution for me. That was nice.
The PS3 hardware is far better, ridiculously poor architecture notwithstanding. Still, there's only one game on the PS3 I'd want that I can't get on the 360. And multiplatform games tend to run better on the 360, according to most material on the subject - and personal experience.
I'm surprised at the... uh... civility of this discussion so far.
Anyway, ultimately it boils down to personal preference. A terribly unreliable console with a huge library which third party companies are actually willing to support (I'm looking at you, Valve), or a remarkably powerful machine that's also fairly - or, comparitively, incredibly - stable.
I chose the 360, but so what if someone chooses the PS3. *Shrug*

I've never had a problem with lag on the PSN.
I've played around 100 Warhawk matches and I can't actually recall any lagging.
That said, it's almost 100% dependent on your connection.

My connection - unlike my computer - is excellent. <3
But it's entirely possible I was using PSN during server maintenance or something.

Yeah, when I first heard that some years ago it was the last nail in the coffin. I love ps2 games, and there are a helluva lot more ps2 games than ps3 games. It's like they didn't want me to buy a ps3, I swear.

The first couple models had PS2 compatibility, but they removed it to cut costs. Although, oddly, it still can play PSX games.

I have a PS3 and I was really shocked to see how insanely similar they are. It just kinda makes me think one copied the other almost. OR, one secret parent company makes them both so they can have a near complete stranglehold on the market.
I mean we are discussing which internet is better. On PS3 I admit I lag sometimes, but no where near enough to say I have bad service or anything negative really. I have played 360 before and dont remember lagging. BUT, $50 for internet... especially if you already pay for an internet connection is too much in my opinion. Fifty dollars added onto another bill is a no go.
If your provider suddenly said it was going to raise your rate fifty bucks you'd probably drop 'em.
Anywho ignore or whatever its just late and i'm cheap

There are definitely advantages to both systems. I have a 360 mostly because that's what came out first. I had enough money for it, so I bought it. Had the PS3 come out first for the same price, I would have a PS3 instead.
