RIP Teddy, even if I didn't agree with your politics you were lovably boisterous.

FINALLY

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chappaquiddick_incident

Just one instance of a man who lived an irresponsible life of privilege, and used his family's political connections to remain above the law. Other times, like the more recent push to install windfarms which Ted was all for as long as it wasn't near his Cape Cod house, which were not quite so sinister but nonetheless revolting. Brain cancer has never rid the world of a more deserving reprobate.

Rod.

You should never be happy that a person died. Ever.

That's the sort of nonsense that the political establishment wants you to buy into. As long as you're unduly sympathetic to the dead, the dead can be used to garner sympathy for issues that otherwise would not gain such support. It's no mistake that less than a day after he passed away the Democrats were using his death to push for their proffered healthcare reforms. It's all part and parcel of the politics that Ted Kennedy was crotch deep in.

Does honesty earn respect or inspire revenge? Is it smarter to attack the strong or annihilate the weak?

Eh while I agree with you Sophia. There are certain extremes that it's ok. This is..not one of them. Having disagreed with him on many levels. Brain Cancer is hardly a way for someone to go.

Did you ever reply to my PM? Lol

I think you may have brain cancer Rod. You and those who are like you are a blight on conservative ideals.

Ted Kennedy is not Hitler. His death is not cause for jubilation. He was pushing (flawed) health care reform not concentration camps.

The use of his death to push laws is disgusting, but no more disgusting than the response to his death you showed.

As was evidenced by the first link I posted, his politics aren't the only thing I find objectionable. The way he's lived his life is also a giant area of contention for me; anyone who can kill someone by driving off a bridge, run away from it, later admit it and get set free with only a slap on the wrist is beyond contempt. What happened to him was simply long overdue karma. That he remained a leading figure in politics is evidence enough of how bad our system is, and I refuse to jump on the bandwagon of looking at his life through rose colored lenses simply because he's no longer breathing, which itself is an abominable practice.

Normally I enjoy a good argument, but I am going to go ahead and drop out of this one early due to not being able to dredge enough care out of giveashit bay.

Actually, being apathetic towards death is the kind of nonsense that you want me to buy into so it would appear that you're rallying for a just cause instead of dancing around a fire with your enemy's head on a stick.

So...sorry, I'd much rather see a person redeem himself than see his existence put to an end.

EDIT: This isn't to say that I fast and tear my clothes every time a person dies. I'll just...never be happy that someone is dead. I don't think that's right.

Ted Kennedy finding redemption is a dream beyond hope. His family's fortune was made on bootlegging and racketeering, he was kicked out of Harvard for cheating, rose in politics due to the entitlement of his surname, and then there was the killing of the young woman at Chappaquiddick which itself would be enough to gain a long prison sentence, if not a threat of the death penalty, or at the very least end his career in politics had he been born anything but a Kennedy. But what happened? He was a Kennedy, so he went on to be a leading political figure now hailed for his heroism and courage. It makes me motherfucking sick. And despite asinine complaints from Rem I haven't even begun to talk about politics, which I very well could. At length.

Sounds mostly like you're jealous he lived the good life.

Barring murder - if that even happened - and cheating in school, nothing you mentioned is wrong. If you can use something to your advantage - connections, money, etc - and you don't, frankly, you're an idiot. It only made sense for Kennedy to take advantage of the benefits his name provided. Why should he muckrake if he doesn't have to? Just because you weren't so lucky he has to deliberately make things harder for himself? Please.

Oh, well, barring his crimes I guess he wasn't such a bad guy. Perhaps we should all take a second look at Hitler too, since Rem was so nice to bring him up at the drop of a hat, and we can apply the same logic to that old pile of ash.

The cure is a shotgun, the cure is whatever blunt instrument one can salvage.Whomever finds themselves too proper will be the first to perish. And you know nothing that matters now.
