So, after growing tired of this character seeing as I, in lack of foresight, minged up the original storyline I had planned, I'm once again plotting to get myself a new character. I however have a few questions related to this.
1) I plan for the character to be inspired by a system in the Witcher, although slightly different. He would use runes (which he'd draw in the air in fights) in order to trigger his ki abilities. I'm wondering if I need a specific ability to do this or doesn't the way one performs ki attacks matter?
2) Profession question: Drawing some more inspiration from several sources, I've stumbled upon a profession called a 'tinkerer', basically someone traveling around performing alchemy, smith work and in my case rune magic in order to empower objects (I would get Psychokinesis for this). Would this be allowed or is it too 'mercenary'-ish?

1) No, that's fine. If the runes just shoot/manipulate ki and not "magic" or some elemental power, then you'd just need ki control.
2) I don't think that'd be a problem. It's sort of open-ended but it's still pretty focused. I don't think you could include smith work but I could see alchemy and rune magic.

Fair enough, smith work could be a hobby then.
What if one would use an unusual wide array of ki attacks? I was planning to have runes for all sort of situations such as deflection, traps, general damage, longevity of items, species-detection and protection. Is there any one of these that ring a bell?
(I took a few ones that obviously doesn't need anything extra, but I just wanted to plant the entire picture. These categories are single attacks by the way, although I do plan (in the far future) to be able to combine runes in order to create new attacks.)

He's saying that as long as you're not using "runes" to try and copy any Techniques or Abilities you don't have, it's fine.

Another question: I'm planning to have rune traps. I'd imagine that all this rune thing would be drawn with such a thin trace of ki that it cannot be seen (unless someone traces ki) so that I wouldn't need stealth or dark ki in order to completely conceal the rune. Is this okay?

O_o
Not sure if unseen Ki is actually a Stealth benefit or rather a general population ability. Traps aren't actually stealth moves are they?

Well it was just to throw some abilities that I'd might need in order to conceal my traps. The method of how the rune traps are performed can be changed, if the staff deems it too unfair in connection with PvP.

I'm fairly sure unless you have dark ki then your ki can be readily sensed, without exception. Stealth doesn't hide ki signatures i don't think, just physical presence, and neither would runes.
For instance, Kaden would still be able to sense your runes or whatever, and where Mal is when he goes commando.

I figured that 'specialized' ki sensing would be possible as the normal one is just 'in that general area' but would it be possible to see it with nothing but the eye?

That requires the Stealth Ability.

Does Stealth govern the ability to hide one's traces of ki then or is that solely Dark Ki?

Dark Ki hides the presence of ki (as detected by Scouters) and Stealth can hide the physical appearance of ki.

-Edit-
I found the answer to this. Thank you.
