Sadly, if that was parked at my restaraunt, it'd be stripped down by now. Seriously, ever since they built that stupid projects style apts behind the place, where you have to make under XXXX amount a year to live there, we've had about two days a week where we've had to deal with car thefts. Erin went outside just Tuesday in the damn rain and found our car door wide open (nothing touched, there is nothing kept in it, and they CAN'T take the radio, and if they can, PLEASE?) with the lights on and shit thrown around. Along with multiple other vehicles of customers, one of whom had a computer stolen. Its getting ridiculous. Every single other business that wasn't already a ghetto shitty business where the workers file their nails and ignore you while you are in their line (Burlington Coat Factory, I'm talking about you, you and your "only two lanes are open" out of fifteen and those two workers have a line of 20 and its been an hour and they are just tuning out the raging front customers - and I'm not kidding, no clue how that place still has a building by now) packed and moved locations. Since our management had JUST done renovations on the place that they had built for them in a Japanese style, they can't really move locations. So they just don't care and think "if you guys give better service the bad customers will leave and the good ones will come back". Nevermind the employee that gets his window busted out on his new vehicle, replaces his radio and window, and a week later its shattered again (Sean, sucks that happened to you).

Low income housing is a sign that your neighborhood is going to (go to) shit. Here in Chicago it's a bit different, they're closing a lot of the projects so other low income communities, that may only have a moderate problem of crime (in terms of the ghetto, at least), are now becoming just as bad as the projects because they move in here. It didn't used to be as bad as it is where I live now, or where I lived before, but recently it's pretty terrible. Last Sunday, 4 guys got shot right outside my house. Literally. Two of them ran into my neighbors back yard and asked them to CALL THE AMBALANCE. There were like 12 kids doing the shooting apparently, my grandfather saw a huge group of like 12 guys run down the sidewalk.

1) Usually these assholes don't do this shit on Sundays. It being "the lord's day" and all.

2) 12 on 4, and guns STILL manage to come into play? Jesus Christ.

Yeah, that reminds me of my last apt complex, where I got home, and then heard noise outside my door fifteen minutes later (No joke). I open the door and there's a group of EMTs trying to revive some guy a foot from my front door who had been shot and stumbled the entire way across from the apartment he was in to his, which was apparently right next to mine. I don't think he made it. From what I heard (though I can't remember where I heard of it from, I think another neighbor at the time) it involved a drug deal gone awry.

That was just fantastic.

That's actually what I did. That happened when I was living in South Carolina. North Augusta, South Carolina, whereas I'm now in Augusta, Georgia (yeah, across the river), but... yeah. Just saying, specifically, I need a far greater migration than that.

Bottoms and campus area is insane.I used to work in the Bottoms, and seen some really crazy shit. Short North used to be really bad, but I think they've tamed down (a wee little bit). Actually, you know, the entire city of columbus is really starting to go down the shitter, come to think of it. Hell, the last place I lived at, a dude got fucking murdered right in the alley where my apartment was. Heard the shots, heard his wife screaming, and heard the car take off that had the guy that shot him in it. Apparently, dude was followed from the Warren ave corner store where he cashed his check, and the dude behind him followed him home a few blocks, waited till he got out of his car and shot him three times in the face. This is amongst other stuff, but this was by far the worst I've actually witnessed.

i agree with this. section 8 is the death knell of the neighborhood. crime WILL go up, property values WILL go down. for the rest of your life, if you see the government doing a section8 housing project, sell your house ASAP and leave.

Speaking from previous experience, not all people who have section 8 will raise the crime rate in a neighborhood. Unfortunately, like many other things, its the bad apples that spoil the entire bushel. There are people who genuinely need this sort of assistance, but there are also those who abuse it, as well.
