Just finished Borderlands on my first playthrough. Maybe it's just not your style Sage, I however like it but only if I play with more people. I'm waiting for a friend of mine to finish his playthrough so me and another friend of mine can play with him on the second playthrough for increased difficulty to see how that is.

I'm not even saying it's bad. It's just... I don't see the appeal. Not yet. I only played it for like a half hour and got bored, though, so I hardly gave it a fair chance.
Right around the point where I was like "I've killed 300 raiders in ten minutes for apparently no reason," I just gave up on caring about what I was doing. There's no motivation. Why are we there, killing people? If the place sucks so obviously hard, why is anyone there?
Everyone keeps going on about some kind of unexplained vault, whose desirability seems amazingly questionable. Hardly seems like something worth running around and getting killed over.

Has anyone played Way of the Samurai 3? I'm really happy with my purchase. Nothing like killing a bunch of Asians on an opposing faction.

Way of the Samurai 3 is awesome. I got it, like, three days before getting Borderlands, though, so I haven't given it nearly as much time as I'm going to.
They actually explain why everyone you run into in Borderlands is a jackass trying to kill you. As far as searching for the vault being lame motivation... yeah, it kind of is. But it could have been far worse. One of those "willful suspension of disbelief" situations.

Buying WoS3 was pretty ridiculous, though.
Me: Do you have Way of the Samurai 3 for the 360?
Guy: Nope.
Me: You...didn't even look.
Guy: I know the games that I have. I haven't even heard of that game.
Me: Just humor me.
Guy: Okay, but I don't think it's here...oh, well, it's here for PS3. Want it for that?
Me: You didn't look in the 360 section.
Guy: You don't have a PS3?
Me: I just want the fucking 360 game.
Guy: Oh, here it is.
That's almost verbatim.

I struck out at three different stores before I just ordered it online. It was ridiculous.

Everyone keeps going on about some kind of unexplained vault, whose desirability seems amazingly questionable. Hardly seems like something worth running around and getting killed over. Basically you're a treasure hunter getting hurled into the most unfriendly environment with no friends bar a few exceptions (like if you bring friends) in your game and perhaps you'll take a liking to the random robots that talk so much they've been nicknamed Claptrap even though the obvious choice 'Craptrap' was as close as the next one. The motivation is lacking because you're not a psychopath like all the characters except Roland. Oh yeah and you do not have schizofrenia. The vault guardian (the annoying blitzing woman that you see in the right) is not just a tutorial find however if you do not start a singleplayer game prior to starting a multiplayer game you will NOT see the intro and therefore have no bloody clue what's going on and also have no clue what class to go after.
Mordacai (hunter) will randomly shout in glee whenever he blows someone's eyes out, which is understandable as it seems his only friend is a mutant creature of a mixture between a bat and an eagle, nicknamed 'Bloodwing' who carries the mysterious power of taking on an element without getting hurt (despite the fact that it looks very, very effected) and hurting others with it.
Lilith (siren) will cackle like an insane witch from L4D except it's in happiness as she blows someone away with some weird force shit.
Brick (hulk hogan/berserker) just likes beating the shit out of people or blow shit up.
Then lastly there's Roland (the black guy from Gears of War/soldier) who really has the personality of a stereotype black basketball player and therefore the only 'insane' thing he will do is call kills like it was the Lord of the Rings and his friends are all Gimli.
Also to be fair, you do get extremely wealthy after finding the vault. I finished the game with 1 million and the time spent on the planet must have been like a week in in-game time. A million in a week does seem like a very plausible reason to travel to this planet. Well, nearly.
EDIT: Also the motivation to play the game not explained by the game is actually the humor in the game, specifically the intro-cut scenes to each of the 'major' characters.

You got all that FROM HALF A HOUR?
I had to play a good hour-two hours before getting to a part that really cracked me up. Though Nine-Toes was pretty funny.

Given you basically regurgitated the opening cinematic and sprinkled on like two additional details, I don't see how that's so unlikely.
EDIT: And I hate that robot.

Okay you better quit the game then. Claptrap is a model of robots, not a robot.
And there's many of them.
And they can all dance.

I think they're hilarious but you can only see one for so long before realizing that robot has a higher opinion about itself than you have.
Funniest thing I've heard is one of the robots trying to calm itself by breathing, but since it can't breathe it played a recording of a person breathing.

Hell i am getting the psp games. Final Fantasy 1, Final Fantasy Tactics, Wolfenstien(for the PC), and possibly the original resident evil(director cut). Not much up on the new systems as I don't have the moeny to buy them and I'm cheap so I only get games here and there. No reason to spring for anything that looks like I would get bored with it either. As for any plans of getting a wi with the new development of corpeltunnel or however it is spelled in my promenent arm that is probably going not happen.
My arm couldn't stand swing for that long on any game. Hell I take breaks inbetween reading books only after thirty minutes and that even goes for typing half the time.

On a side note, totally didn't realize I had to actually download my collector's stuff after putting the codes in for Dragon Age. I got kinda pissed until I figured it out.
