It's a good item, but not really something that is worth buying for everyone.

EDIT: I've actually seen people playing Rammus and just buying 6 of those. Never really understood that, though. Same thing with the Avarice Blade. Getting gold per 5 only pays off if the game lasts ~40 minutes.

I usually only go for gold per five items when playing a tank or support character, or something like AP Teemo that plans to go shrooming. The reasoning is that I'm not in any way last hitting minions and need the gold income since I'm doing other things, which helps keep me from competing with carries over last hits as well.

Sometimes I see a carry like Yi with that sword that gives gold per five. I cry.

Quite often I'll grab the Philosopher's Stone as my first time. It gives good HP/MP regen and the gold per 5 pays the item off in... I want to say 20 minutes. Very worthwhile.

I get that frequently. There's a Gangplank build that calls for getting 1 or 2 Avarice Blades early on, I've only tried it a couple times but it definitely pays off. Gangplank really never has a problem with gold though, especially if you have the mastery that gives gold for Smite kills (I do).

Philosopher's Stone + Avarice Blade(s) + Smite + Parlley (awards gold) = fuuuuuuuuck

That sounds dumb. You're going to max you pistol shot pretty quick, and that gives you bonus gold for last shots, which gives you gold anyway.

I bought Katarina and had a game with her last night, but I was either not putting out enough damage or I had bad survivability. What's a good item build for her?

I played Kat for a while. I like cooldown and damage on her.

There's not a whole lot to the character, really. Just spam her skills. Fortunately, that's pretty fun.

And yeah, survivability is her biggest problem. Killer Instinct + Shunpo is her only real mitigation. Grabbing a Bloodthirster helps a lot with that.

Zhu, if the Chalice cost any more than 890 gold, I would agree with you completely. However, basically not having to worry about your mana for the rest of the game is absolutely worth the price.

Razor only costs 1000 and the last hitting that comes with it makes rushing B.F a much easier task.

Warwick is definitely my favorite as of now, as I don't have many champions unlocked and Warwick is one of the free 10 champs for this weeks patch. I also like Singed and Yi but yeah. I'm only good enough to point and click so nukers and carries are out of the question Tongue.

Also, the matchmaking system is supposed to group high levels with lower levels so that the two teams would have a 50/50 percent of winning to encourage competition. Which sucks when you're in a 2-3 person pre-made and your entire team consist of new players.

Yeah, that's a bad system.

Nine times out of ten, high level players just get frustrated and quit when they get paired with "noobs." It's stupid, but so are people.

Similar way that the WoW "cross server pug" system works. It makes groups from top and bottom of possible gear pools. The reasoning is that higher geared players should help lower geared players (at a reward to themselves) and lower geared players should be running that for gear anyway and thus shouldn't have to land in the instance with 4 other minimal geared players that have no experience with the zone and thus can't make up for the gear by skill (leaving rage quitting).

I just realized I have no idea how to gear Amumu. I kind of went for health and some armor. Had a pretty decent game, at least (7/1/9) but was curious if anyone plays him regularly.

Doran's Shield, Chalice, Boots of Swiftness, Banshee's Veil, and Frozen Mallet were my items. Next was going to be Atma's.

Between Diplomatic Immunity and Heroic Charge it sounds like she'll be hilarious to play.

That's what it was reading like, yeah.

People were saying that she can solo turrets at 6 and no one can stop her.

EDIT: I'd assume that you really have to just stunlock through her ult and deal with the rest of the team first. Which... is ridiculous.

It also makes me wonder if her passive's work on item procs/damage. Might be able to deal with her using Bloodrazor and Sword of the Divine.

That new character seems ridiculously overpowered. Valiant Fighter + Paragon sounds like an unstoppable combo. Plus Diplomatic Immunity could just be put onto the weakest of the champions assaulting you while you take no damage from anything else. You'd need some damn good armour penetration to bring her down.

Also, is there a cap you can get from rune bonuses? I've just tried adding more crit chance to my rune book but it won't go beyond 10%.
