I'm sitting in here on the computer, messing with my Magic cards and crap, when I hear a loud noise outside of my apt that sounds a lot like when the dumpsters get emptied. It was so loud though that I got up and told Erin I was looking outside a moment. So I get outside, and I see a car sitting with hazard lights at the entrance, so I tell Erin that I thought someone had just had a wreck.
I was looking at the wrong car. I grabbed my shoes and a jacket and Erin grabbed my phone, following me out. We get outside and there's this car sitting on the damn hill beside the entrance, at the top of it where he hit a tree. Basic jist of it is that some dude was driving back from a Super Bowl party, fucked up on all sorts of drugs and alcohol. He was coming around the corner so fast that he couldn't stop in time for someone who was turning left across his lane into their complex. Someone else was turning right into our road. He tried to swerve into the left lane to dodge the guy turning in front of him, and in doing so he turned his car sideways a bit (angled), hit the curb, went completely sideways (somehow going between a smaller tree, a few bushes, and having his wheel just barely bump the street sign), hitting a tree in front of him that stopped him completely, the tree pretty much remaining unharmed (despite only being about 4-7 inches diameter). If he hadn't hit the tree and then bounced down into his normal position, he'd have slid right into some neighbors bedroom walls just over the hill. Talked to the cop about the hilarity of it for a bit after stuff was taken care of, and he filled me in on what the actual witness said, then we helped him, the tow guy, and those last neighbors to gather up the remaining car parts. I tried to take a picture on my phone, since that was all I had, but with all the lights around the area from vehicles, the flash wouldn't work and the car was too dark to tell anything. Funny enough, as usual, the driver was completely unharmed, with just a cut across his forehead. His pupils wouldn't dilate to light at all though, and he basically didn't even know where he was or remember much, supposedly a bit more beyond the shock typically encountered. The first words of the tow guy the moment he got out of his truck were golden. "How the hell did he get up there?"

You'd think towers would be jaded after all they've seen. But -apparently- taking a Nissan Sentra into a "medium" grade off-road trail was unheard of around here.
Until we did it, I mean. ![]()

I convinced a couple of guys at work to go visit /b/.
One was pretty jaded already and knew to expect the worst. He was upset with /b/ but alright. The other guy came to work with the most horribly depressed expression I have ever seen in my life. I asked him about /b/ and it got even more sad. It was absolutely epic. ![]()

Jack Wrote:The first one you posted was so massive, I never read it.it breaks down like this. former EVE major alliance, BoB (Band of Brothers), was more or less the strongest group in the game. there were controversies of game administrators giving BoB members special treatment, both proven and rumors. one of the things was a special resource area that gave BoB a great advantage. then there's the Goonswarm. from SA.com, they prided themselves as "the worst alliance in EVE." instead of any real strategy, they would send waves and waves of cheap ships at their enemies (which also earned them the name Jihadswarm). so, the Goons and BoB have been enemies since forever. at one point, a high ranking BoB player wanted to defect to the Goons, and to do this he turned over access to BoB's alliance to the Goons. the Goons immediately disbanded BoB, which destroyed BoB's sovereignty (sov being, if an alliance holds an area for X amount of weeks, they can then use stronger and stronger defense measures to strengthen their hold). then one of the senior Goons reestablished Band of Brothers so that the name couldn't be reused by the now ex-BoB clan. then, there was a sudden mass exodus of Goons into BoB's old territory. the drama has been epic. BoB has a lot of Titan-class ships, which take thousands of dollars worth of in-game money and several months to build, and lost a handful of them in the first few days. they've been fighting for the last year, and now Goonswarm is having their own internal struggle. the leader just kicked all of the member Corps out and refused to pay upkeep costs so they lost all their sovereignty.

Hate: http://www.likelike.com/pollcommentary/2176
I just came across this. I'm not sure whether to laugh or feel concerned that there are actually people out there who think like this. I briefly glanced at the society and culture polls, literally every other poll is rampantly anti-male. A lot of the polls seem to be old, not sure if the site's even running or what the hell is going on. It might very well just be the same one or two feminists/weird submissive men posting the comments. IDK, either way I got a good laugh out of some of the posts. If I had read a few of those comments a year or so ago it would have absolutely got my blood boiling. But I feel more relaxed about this stuff now to the point where reading this kind of female supremacy bs only slightly irritates me. |
