It's out of beta, completely free, sort of 'battlefield' based gameplay. There's three (or fewer) lanes, each team starting on one half of the battlefield and they must push it down in order to destroy the enemy base and win. Basically, at least.
Kaden, I honestly doubt a pure support character would work. In Twisted Treeline, it's usually 3x role teams. Three tanks or three DPS or a mix. That means support characters that can't help sustain damage are going to have problems regarding full tank teams.

That's my guess as well. There's an easy way to find out, though.
Juno: Basically what Leo said. There are two maps right now, one for 5v5 and one for 3v3. You control one of, like, 50 champions and try to lead your side to victory by destroying the enemy's defenses and pushing your minions (who are constantly spawning and fighting the other team's minions) into their base.

Sounds like Age of Mythology/Empires.
Hm. Might have to try it.

No reason not to, in my opinion, since it's free.

I remember Age of Mythology. I need to grab that again...
It's essentially hero based combat in an RTS setting.

You can do it, Soph! We believe!
Juno: I'm not sure what champions are free this week (there are 10 that people can use for free and they change from week to week), but Warwick, Master Yi, and Ashe are all good champions to learn on, and they're in the rotation pretty regularly.
EDIT: Also, I'm definitely willing to help people get back into the swing of things or learn to play with some practice games. Just hit me up on AIM/PM/ChatBox.

This game is going to take some getting used to. I got slaughtered first time out, even playing against the CPU.
EDIT: Yeah, I'm going to have to try one of those. I tried out that thing that looks like a black mage... hell no.

Against humans, my score of 6/7/3 would have been respectable.
Against easy CPU...not so much.
I'll probably be looking to play later tonight, maybe after I put the new KT round up.

Anything that looks like a spell caster, I would not recommend starting with. They're generally more item-dependant than the straight attackers, and trying to figure out the items you want AND the way the game works at the same time is a bad idea.
If you check champ info, you can see some keywords. Anyone with "Tough" or "Fighter" is probably a good place to start.

They just made a change to one of the items that should make Mundo an incredibly playable champ.
Spirit Vestige now gives a 25% bonus to regen. I really want to test that out at on him at some point, but I'm not sure if I have Mundo unlocked.
Out of curiosity, has anyone tried an AP Mundo? EDIT: And when I say "AP" I mean "AP in addition to Regen, as opposed to damage."

To add to Kaden, go for 'Recommended' champions. They're usually easy to pick up but hard to master.

Ah, well, you can see how integral Spirit Vestige is to most of my builds.
However, there was definitely a time where it didn't provide healing bonuses. It was mostly just Resist. Not a good use of gold.
EDIT: Does the healing bonus mean it increases the healing you receive or the healing you give to other people?

Back when I played, and mainly just did practice games, I would beef up Mundo's HP with a couple items, then would grab that ... Atma's Impaler, I think?

I hate Mundo so much. He was able to singularly hold off myself and Iceart by throwing his cleavers, gradually bringing his health down, then he'd just switch on his quick regen ability and he was ready to attack us. Such a prick.

Warmog's and Atma's is definitely a playable build with Mundo. His PBAoE can feed Warmog's like nobody's business and since his ult gives a % HP regen, it doesn't suffer from massive pools of HP.
Conceptually, Mundo's a cool character. I just... never seem to go where he pleases, I guess.

Mundo for me was all about harassment. His cleaver was an incredible tool in the early game, and I often combined it Masochism and Escape (or whatever the speed spell was) to get first blood.
I tried a crit+AP Mundo a couple times as well. After a certain point Masochism starts to hit like a goddamn truck, but the build had low HP, which is bad for Mundo.
