You know whats funny, they said they spent a lot on marketing it, but when my parents asked me what movie I went to see (my parents are like my barometer for the general public) they had no idea what Scott Pilgrim was.
When in doubt: It was sarcasm.

Hate: new Nvidia driver fucked up my desktop. The black looks like it has a film of grey over it.

http://www.vanityfair.com/online/oscars/...t-now.html gonna disagree. throwing money at things like this won't trigger an industry movement, and it shouldn't. i'm looking for movies that appeal to the old way of things. i just don't believe modern film production is good enough to stand on its own anymore and if this new wave really does sink in things will only get worse.

Rod feels that the Expendables was a fantastic movie and that Scott Pilgrim is bile. ...Ok.
Personally, without having read the article, I'd say definitely that the movie is something I'm recommending friends to go see. Its a fun movie, a real blast to watch. My friend said he'll wait for dvd but I think due to the way the movie is portrayed (the video game aspect) with all the small details that you should see it in theater to get the most from it.
I don't exactly agree that they put a lot into marketing. I went into the movie expecting some piece of crap knockoff of Kick Ass with Michael Cera, and thankfully that's so terribly wrong. I think the small bit of marketing that I saw really didn't tell that much about the movie, but I guess I can say its forgivable because I can't think of a good way to condense the movie into a small clip while still doing the movie justice (Saying "band guy wants chick and has to fight seven evil exes as if part of a video fighting game" is about as close as it gets, but I kinda feel that it was more than that, a bit more of an appeal to the entire gamer culture or at least for the Nintendo generation.) The music, the gaming aspects, the anime throwins, everything was a great subtle gesture that I appreciated.
