My hate is actually the opposite: too many games, not enough time. =(

My like is that I have a week off work starting tomorrow to rectify that. >=D

Well I'm glad it's not short. I haven't picked it up yet though...but I will someday.

I have like five games I started around this time last year and never finished playing them all the way through. Having a job is hell on my gaming habit.

It was Force Unleashed 2.

That was for totally different reasons, though. You chose to ignore the side-quests and optional content to get through the story. There are no side-quests in FU2. There's some additional content, but challenges are entertaining for about 30 minutes. Maybe.

Adding harder difficulties to manufacture replayability is bullshit. Of course, because it's a "Star Wars" game, they have to add two endings. One for the Light side and one for the Dark side. As if that actually helps when you can just go straight to the last level.

I'm surprised you even bought it. I thought you hated Star Wars.

You know me so well. XD

Taking that knowledge and applying it to Dragon Age. Do you know how long it took me to beat it the first time? 23 hours. XD LOOOONG GAME that was.

I find it hilarious that I'm considered the Computer Guy at my workplace because most of them are older than 30. I've actually been BOOKED to teach people shit in 1 to 1 sessions. My qualifications? Uhh ... I spend a lot of time on computers.

That said I've been planning to learn programming for a while, and in my downtime I've been reading through this beginner's python thing. I'd love to do a CompSci course but I'm wondering whether it's worth the huge debt or whether I should just stick with doing things indie style.

When I pretend it's not Star Wars, I'm just running around shooting lightning and throwing people to their death with my mind. And that's just badass.

Actual reason: for some reason I thought Assassin's Creed came out on the same day so I went to trade some stuff in and found out I was mistaken. So instead of doing the smart thing and putting the money on the game I knew I wanted I went with the lightning and telekinesis game.

=(

Eh, I had my suspicions pretty early. The way that went down was pretty lame though.

To clarify, seems like the writer threw away a bunch of characters with lots of potential because he couldn't think of what to do with them.

You totally should have bought Lego Universe instead.

Hate being pushed into the position of having to approach this guy and tell him to back off this chick I'm dating. Seriously who the hell keeps trying to get with a girl who has told him 'No.' for a year and a half?

Like: Freaky like my lady pyramid. That brightened my day.

Hate having to get up in a few hours to drive my sister's busted ass vehicle to the mechanic back home so he can fix it. Hope the shit doesn't break down on me.

I really enjoyed FU1, but if no. 2 is so short, I'll just borrow it off my room mate.

You should just find out the textbooks required for the uni courses of decent schools and get a used (or ereader) copy. While some people can teach programming really well, most of it boils down to just learning syntax (and good books will also give you an idea of why the syntax is as it is). Plus, it saves you from having the unfortunate "I just paraphrase from the book for an hour anyway" teacher.

Like: Having done that prior to taking two of my courses this trimester and breezing through them as a result.
Hate: That I didn't do that for the third and am all "WTF IS GOING ON."

Yo someone reply to this. I know like half of you fuckers took CompSci and I need your insightful nerd opinions. All I've had so far is the advice of one drunk person who thought I was asking their advice about it when I mentioned it. If you guys don't help me I'll take the advice of the drunk guy and probably die in a freak programming accident. Or ask a tech forum but still, c'mon.

Edit: lol, thank you Jarka. Slow typer is slow.

I'm actually super-excited about all the stuff I'm gonna try to make once I've got a bit further in this book. Of course, 'crazy-ass RPG training program' is top of the list.

C++ is the eventual language you'll want to master. That or one of the mainstream web based ones like Java or Flash.

I'd suggest you start out learning from a book and decide if you really want to lose part of your soul by becoming a code monkey. Once you get further into it you might decide you want to take some classes, probably one more focused on game programming.

I would also start by learning a .NET-compliant language.

That's exactly what you should do.
