What's so great about minecraft. I mean, like, do you just build? ...or is there like a purpose to building? Is this some Renaissance of non-linearity? All I know is you can punch stuff to make more stuff.

It's just fun. It's like a pixel world which you can edit bit by bit with other people. Some blocks are rarer than others. There's water and lava to think about.

Describing it probably won't convince anyone it's entertaining, but it really is. It's got a lot of charm.

Legos with a splash of zombie survival. All the essentials to create an addictive game.

Spence, knowing you and how you must adamantly completely every step of everything, this is one of those games up your alley, in my opinion.

Fighting to the bitter end is an advantage when your opponent does not wish to perish.

That was me and Richard marking our path to our base (right under the fragments of the second half of the floating area).

We are currently where that giant lava spire is to the north. We have an entire Bow and Arrow factory up there where we found a skeleton spawner and spider spawner and went through the trouble to set up some traps to help make infinite arrows and bows for everyone by sitting under the grinder for a while.

Then we saw that despite everyone agreeing that level editors and setting everything to easy mode was gay, you guys are manually controlling daylight and night and spawning every single item you want and just dropping it into place, which makes the entire point of trying to contribute by preparing a weapons shop for town pointless - as everyone can now get on, get someone to spawn them fifty diamond weapons and full armor and bows and create roads of diamond by going through all the effort to type "/giveplayer Diamond" (or whatever the command is).

I kinda wish I'd have known before hand that we were intending to make it a giant mspaint so we could have just set it to full easy creative mode with no mobs instead of going through the work to cheat around that while claiming we are doing SMP. We should probably just get over it and set it that way, since its a mixed message otherwise.

I haven't taken a single spawned item (nor do I have the ability to spawn them).

for da record

Then that officially makes you not a gay. =D I was going to jokingly say last night "If you think the game is awesome now, you should try some survival multiplayer."

Well that was dumb. I plugged the lava back up that was flowing from the spire into my door and shut all my doors back that were open, not a big deal.

But no like seriously. Cool factory bro. Consider the lava a scrotum love-tap.

I've no idea how you made some of that shit happen.

You mean the skeleton drowning trap and spider drowning/cactus trap? If you find a spawner, and manage to clear the mobs quickly enough, you can place a three torches adjacent to the spawner to turn it off. As long as at least three torches stay next to it (meaning I swap them around while taking the mossy cobblestone from them) nothing will spawn. That lets you build whatever you want around them and then you either grab the torches and run like hell or you throw water up that washes the torches away. If water is running directly through the spawner though, it stays off, so not the best method.

EDIT: You shouldn't have mentioned the lava at first, btw. If not for seeing it out the window, I'd likely have just walked out the door and straight into it. Would have been god damn hilarious if it was just a single block with a lava source so it was less noticeable.

ha, but then you might lose shit.

Don't wanna do THAT.

And I have no idea what lava source is. Or how to make it.
