Maybe I'm the latest noticer ever, but...why does this thread have "lemonparty" across from the title if you look at it from the overall asylum forum?

My wife and I both enjoyed Sucker Punch. There's definitely room for improvement in it, but I don't feel the acting was that bad (the three central girls did a great job imo) and I thought the story was actually fairly good, though it was easy to get lost in transitions. The downfalls were that it spent too much time in the fantasy land away from said story.

And those worlds were in no way each person's inner world. Every bit of that (as far as the action worlds are concerned) was within Babydoll's mind as what she's imagining to help her push through her inhibitions and find the right flow for her dance. The casino/orphanage stuff is simply the group's survival method to keep a bit more optimistic of an outlook on their real plight, in believing themselves as they strive to be while constantly being reminded of their place.

The music was awesome. I enjoyed the new remixes of Sweet Dreams, the song right after it that's name escapes me, and the Bjork music, as they were very fitting. Graphically, it was phenomenal, but I'm separating that from some of the very cheesy scenes that happened in the action - while acknowledging that those were ok given that they were fantasies in her head, thus they can be as unrealistic as they want to be.

I think I definitely agree with the B+ ranking given by someone in this thread. I'll give it a 4/5 on Netflix when I get around to it, which is about where I put similar movies.

I'll say the thing I felt detracted the most from the action scenes, however, was actually the thing that Snyder is well known for - the impact point camera focuses. I didn't need to stop and focus on a specific moment every few seconds. Sometimes I would have loved a good stream of raw unhindered action from motion to motion without needing a pause and zoom every other blow.
