It seems to be automatic. It's based off a trigger basically outside of Kaden's control and will probably just be an information feed for the rest of the game every time we're indecisive.

I've not mentioned anything about my role. If you are talking about Shen...I've been taking my time reading from bottom to top of the Champions page on LoL... And I just saw Shen's photo and as soon as I saw it, I had to do a double glance because I'm sure I've seen Richard in a pose as he goes marching off tho go kick some ass

Working this on my phone, so here goes:
The consensus is that Josh is mafia. I agree. But we have no other leads right now. If Kaden's ability works by targetting the person with the most votes who wasn't lynched, we should forgo lynching a sure mafia at the moment. Instead we should work up the votes on someone else and give Kaden another chance to figure out who is who. That said: Lynch T.Merr Not that I know that he's mafia. Well Merr, I picked you for no particular reason. I was hoping that someone would agree with me and lower the lynch count on Josh. We know he's Mafia. We have absolutely no clues about anyone else aside from trusting Kaden and Doe, since Kaden vouched for him. I can see the Mafia targetting Kaden or Doe tonight, which should give the Doctor role an easy choice in who to protect. If the Doc, who is still anonymous, protects Kaden, we can continue to not lynch people and gather information. Pretty much indefinitely.

This is assuming that people even believe Kaden. Lynching Josh is a great way to dispel doubt about Kaden's powers, as well as lowering the numbers of the Mafia. So many chicks with one stone, brah. Ya can't say no.
I totally see where you're coming from, but it's as I've said: town won't win unless we lynch people. Likewise, if we vote for a random townie, there's no telling what kind of mafia powers they still have waiting that could kill him/her. Just lynch Josh and let's get it over with.
