Well...we announced it in January, and I've had to push it back twice now already. I don't know what else I can say, really.

Dante's Abyss has been a community thing for a long time. If people want to do their own thing, or do the Red Stallions, who am I to stop them? I'm just disappointed that no one wants to try and make this work. It's happened every year...and so what if it's two new people doing it? I'd at least like for it to be given a chance. It won't run for long, given the amount of people who MIGHT join, really not long at all.

But, I get it, everyone has their niche and clique's. Maybe we'll try again next year. If we're even here.

I really hope you guys don't leave in frustration over this. While DA was brought up in January, there was no set date whatsoever for when it would begin. I, and I'm certain some other people, thought from the lack of mention since then that it wouldn't start until later in the summer.

I think a lot of us are willing to try and make this work, but we have other obligations first. As has been mentioned, a drawn out tournament was just completed, so some writers are getting their act together from that. Red Stallions has been in development since March with a decent amount of people counting on participating.

This isn't a matter of niches and cliques. This is just a matter of now not necessarily being the best time for the community.

I understand that you have your own thing. Furthermore, I understand that you have been developing it for a while. Just...understand how frustrating this is for me. I announced it in January so that I could get a "time slot" for the saga. We never set a date because two or three of things just like your Red Stallion thing cropped up that made me push it back again. I still can't because God knows how long you guys will take (and please understand that I don't mean this in a bad way--it's just hard to know, and it sounds like something that might go on for a while).

I am willing to push it back again if I have to, but at least try to understand what it's like on our end.

If we don't have enough, then we'll push back the date. In the event that that should happen, try to give us some sort of time frame.

Yeah, you backed us up for months, and then a bunch of people finally start working out plans and start working to try and get back into activity, and you drop this bomb on us 7 days before it starts? You had to be aware that, in the absence of solid DA plans, we all went ahead and made other plans in order to sustain our activity, right?

That said, if this DA was going to be somewhat short, which it seems it would, I could actually participate and still do my thing. Or, on the other hand, might a propose a slight delay to RS, even though it has been solidly planned for much longer? I think Alex could benefit from this, actually. Right now you're looking at 4-5 members, if You run a quick, month-long DA first, get activity back on target - which DA sometimes tends to do - then you might get more members into RS. Just a thought.

But yeah, in regards to Sophia and Victoria's comments in this threads, getting pissy because YOU both failed to notify the community with solid plans in advance is not the right way to go with this. If you noticed, usually sagas, especially large-scale ones like DA, tend to be announced ahead of time. And not in this manner: "DA '11 will be sometimes like year . . . *pause, pause, pause, one saga runner goes inactive, then both are missing in action, pause, pause* . . . Okay it's starting in a week!"

Edit: I honestly thought it would start i February or March and that Meer's Namek tournament and saga served as a replacement for DA because it wasn't coming together fast enough and/or you wer inactive.

Give us a date, give us a sign up, and we'll work around that. If we have hard times we'll know what the schedule will be like. The whole flim flam could probably been avoided in the first place if a reasonable deadline was set.

I thought that DAs were done in the Fall? I'm not sure of this, due to never having been in one. I'd say that at the rate of getting ANYTHING done on this site the whole red Stallions thing would probably be best Started in the last month of summer break because we'll all be busy doing Red Stallions for at least that long, and you don't want to start it in a time that lines up with the start of school cause then you'll STILL have nobody having time for doing it.

Trafford's entire post sums up how I feel. I'm prefacing this by stating that I am deeply appreciative of anyone that is willing to run this. But even appreciated things can be met with unfortunate circumstances - that doesn't suddenly mean no one appreciates it.

As Trafford said, the "announced since January so how is no one ready?" argument isn't valid because the announcement was basically "sometime this year we'll run it" with both people vanishing off the site entirely for quite some time, then one returning and getting back in the swing of things while the other was assumed to not be coming back at all. It had been questioned, and a few people honestly thought Sophia had a strong position of fully intending to not return (not saying this was desired by others. I have no idea, and I for one have no problem with Soph).

So faced with those prospects, people found alternatives to fill their time as a manner OF keeping activity up, and then their efforts are condemned because everyone was supposed to sit and wait for "sometime this year" to happen. If they knew a more concrete timeline of when it would start, say "July is when we are planning to start", then this would not be an issue because the ball falls to them. Instead, "anytime this year" was the reserved time slot, to which we then get a post that basically says "drop everything, if you can't finish in just a couple of days or put your thing on hold then you can't join", except it didn't end there but instead went the direction of "and if you don't join, then sure, passive aggression here and you'll just miss the only important story of the entire Chubbs community so I understand if you don't want to, we'll just try next year I suppose, if we haven't had the site fall apart by then. Dot dot dot."

Absolutely the wrong way to respond to this. I get the frustration from your end in that you both returned specifically to do this, but you can't expect everyone to have been sitting here just waiting. I'd rather see people active with SOMETHING than completely inactive in hopes of something else that they have no concrete guarantee of it even happening.

Those said, as is always a problem with me around this time period for DA, I am not looking to participate. Do I want to? Yeah, HELL yeah, I really wish my character was further progressed than she is. For some reason I was suspecting late July if this even ran, but I had put it out of my mind since no further word had been spoken. I just NOW realized that I have issues every year with it due to Memorial Day week, when I'll be out of town. Since I'll be in VA during that week and then in TN during the following weekend for my birthday, I won't be able to participate (since I know others essentially require it to happen during that specific time slot or THEY can't participate, and I'm not going to take priority over them).

This was a sign up thread, not a "I want to join but..." thread.

I'm disappointed. I didn't want this to turn into a debate. Yeah, poor planning, yes, I thought Matt wasn't coming back. No one seemed to want to do this. I don't do the announcing for a reason. This is why I prefer to do the grunt work of the saga, not the announcements and the politics.

Join, don't join, it's going to be quick and smooth regardless of what happens.

Let's just drop it and try and see what happens. SO if you want to join, just post saying "I'm in". Only post saying such. We'll decide what to do once we have numbers (for now, ignore the start date).
