But that's my point, if you own all current 3 consoles with their respective add ons for enjoyable motion control, why would you purchase the Wii-U (with perhaps no motion control?) that has worse graphics than both the XBox 360 and the Playstation 3 but the exact same gameplay (perhaps with no motion control).

It just baffles me. The ONLY reason I can see anyone getting a Wii-U is for the exclusive remakes of Nintendo franchises. : S

I should have said current gen consoles, sorry. The new images/videos from Wii-U looks like my PS3/XBox 360.

e2: to save a post, the reason I'm comparing the Wii-U to PS3/Xbox 360 is because I was told that the Wii-U comes out earlier than the new PS/Xbox and as such there will be a period where it will be the 4 consoles (XBox 360, PS3, Wii, Wii-U).

For me, Skyward Sword is gonna be the first real test of Motionplus. Though I haven't played Red Steel 2 which uses it and apparently the swordfighting in that is pretty sweet.

Just a reminder....The only game footage shown on the WiiU..Was Cinamatics from the 360/Ps3..They havent shown its graphic capability yet....Sure it has 1080P...But crap still looks like crap no matter how much gold you mix into it...Chunky nasty graphics still look chunky and nasty in 1080P.

wow...139 dollars is pretty cheap but lets see...Im getting a basic wii...one wii plus controler...a nunchuk...and two cheap games...wow...Thats worth 139 dollars...and I get crappy graphic quality...crappy multiplayer...Oh and lets not forget...no dvd player...So yeah its worth the price...but so is a quarter to use a toilet....Not so impressive Game selection..Mostly aimed at younger audiences..the few games they have for adults are fun..but passable...Most games feel like they were designed for the Nintendo Ds...


Sorry...But I would much rather shell out a extra bit of cash for the Ps3 or Xbox360 because im getting what I pay for. Im getting good multiplayer support. Im getting good graphics. Im getting improved motion controls with games that appeal to my age group. Im getting a dvd player for when I just wanna chill and watch a movie. Im getting a large game selection that doesnt force me to use motion control unless I want it. And yes I said id even rather have a ps3 and im a known 360 fan boy. Playstation move does what the Wii does but it does it better like a more athletic older brother.

The only thing that appeals to me about the Wii is the classic games I can buy like n64, nintendo,super nintendo games that i remember from my childhood. But is nostalgia really worth 139 dollars or less for just the basic system..? I can go to a yardsale and get most of these games and systems from people for about 20 to 30 bucks or less....

Sorry but in the end..Id ratehr shell out the extra cash and get more bang for my buck.

And yes ps3 an xbox360 have had their problems but even with their problems I would rather have them over the Wii. Again it comes down to personal preference in the end.

Also lol @ shifo watching Extra Credit. Wii having bad graphics is a legitimate complaint at this point. Yes, they're correct in saying that people are usually talking about aesthetics, but graphics are what give you the ability to present those aesthetics in an appealing way.

Wii can barely do that.

I was fine with the Wii in terms of "movement" with the controllers. In fact, most of the time it made it easier. Running in Zelda and just flicking my wrist while running cuts things down like a breeze. RE4 was very similar, being easy to aim then switch to knife when needed. There was a spin for Mario galaxy, there was a whip for Metroid Prime, etc etc. Maybe people aren't holding it right? My Wiimote usually just rested in my lap as I was playing anything. If you hold it out at full arm's length then of course you're going to tire yourself out.

I'm sick of hearing "better graphics better graphics!" We're looking for aesthetics, not graphics. Think Katamari Damaci. You wouldn't complain that it looked bad because it didn't. It had a style that drew you into the crazy, fucked up world as you mercilessly rolled innocent people into your giant ball of death. Having said that, yes there are games on the Wii that lack both graphical power and aesthetics too (fuck you Ninja Bread Man). All I ask is that you complain about the right thing. Graphics are just polygons, aesthetics are how they use them to make the game look good.

There are studies that show that "realism" in video games does not leave as much of an impression and lasts as long (with graphic updates and whatnot) as more "stylized" graphics that give a certain aesthetic.

Graphics are part of aesthetics so what I said is true. Every polygon and shade and color and texture comes together to bring you into the game's world. I never said that Wii had better aesthetics or that you shouldn't complain about it's graphical power, because you should. Which isn't to say you can't get a good looking game on it (Kirby's Epic Yarn and both Super Mario Galaxies come to mind).
