Graphics are part of aesthetics so what I said is true. Every polygon and shade and color and texture comes together to bring you into the game's world. I never said that Wii had better aesthetics or that you shouldn't complain about it's graphical power, because you should. Which isn't to say you can't get a good looking game on it (Kirby's Epic Yarn and both Super Mario Galaxies come to mind).

My point was that, for consoles, graphics are the medium of expression for aesthetics. You could know how to paint the most beautiful sunset ever, but if you can't make the color orange it's just not going to look right.

Limited graphics means a limited ability to appropriately express an aesthetic. Most of your posts boiled down to "your wrong about the hardware, its the developers not using their software properly" which is just as false and as it may be true. Yes, when working with limited resources its on the people using them to get the most they can. Your early posts, though, made it sound like your position was that no fault should be placed on the Wii.

You can't generalize aesthetics across a console like that. It's the developer's choice how they use the tools they have.

Wii just gives them fewer tools. Kirby's Epic Yarn is a great example of inferior graphics and vastly above-par aesthetic sense.

Conduit, on the other hand, is using inferior graphics with an otherwise boring and over-done aesthetic.

Your point and my point are the same; I just pair it with the proposition that the Wii does not have a greater abundance of 'aesthetics' (take that as cumulative, or as a total of 'aesthetically pleasing games') than the other consoles, and with that being equal, graphics wins.

My point was actually that the onus of responsibility is on the developers, whereas your point was phrased in order to make some consoles look better than others.

And lol, if aesthetics are equal, then they both look equally good. Graphics aren't separate from how good the game looks overall, which is what I consider aesthetics to be.

You're creating a false syllogism.

I mentioned Conduit before. That game was developed with the same aesthetics as Gears of War or Half-Life 2. Those aesthetics become a detriment to the game because the Wii is not capable of creating the graphics that such an aesthetic needs in order to be appealing in this generation of consoles.

And look how one guy made a little game with super low end graphics called Minecraft and sold 2.5 million copies. Or how the best selling MMO is World of Warcraft, and the graphics in WoW were pretty much never all that "realistic".

How does that point invalidate his point? The point is that graphics quality doesn't = success. In fact, you pointing out that the game is getting a graphics update after it's already been a success actually proves the point that graphics didn't make it a success.

The most important part of any game is that it's fun to play, and the most important part of graphics is that the images are sharply defined. They don't have to be orgazmazing to do that. Like has been said, see Minecraft for an example... Or Super Meat Boy... Castle Crashers... Or League of Legends vs. HoN...

What crawled up your behind?

We've seen visual representation on how the console works, we've seen how the controller is supposed to work (as in the pitch they're going with in commercials), we've heard that they're going to offer an online service to match the other consoles' and we've seen the lineup of games that are also on the other consoles.

The graphics - worse or equal to the other consoles that we currently already own.

The controller - I don't see the purpose of a small additional screen between my hands.

The gameplay - The exact same as any other console AS IT'S THE SAME GAMES.

Online service - The only thing we don't really know anything about right now, but considering the Wii past online services combined with their lack of experience on the field.

I'm not just running my mouth, I saw the presentation live as it happened and this was what it was. There's nothing from that presentation that suggests it's going to be better than any of the current consoles on the market on any field - if this is the case, why should we buy it?
