Android Apps

So I'm getting a new phone in like 2 days. HTC Inspire 4G, Android 2.2.

Looking for any helpful info on which apps people use and the like.

I have an HTC Desire ZEEEEEEEE, it's the best thing ever. Last.fm and youtube are obvious essentials (though now you need a subscription for last.fm on mobile, but WHATEVS). Angry Birds and Tank Hero for some nice free distractions, Google Docs and Maps ... I dunno man, but I'll be watching this thread for suggestions myself since this is my first smartphone.

Hell, even if you have an iPhone, there's lots of apps that are available on both, so feel free to post the iPhone apps you tend to use the most as well.

I've got the Vibrant (the Samsung Galaxy S, T-Mobile version) and its pretty sweet. I've had zero problems with this phone and love the shit out of it. There is a 4G version out since I bought mine, has a front facing camera and a few other features that really should have been on the original, but not enough difference to cause me to upgrade to it.

As far as apps go, there's one called "EasyMoney" for budgeting and finance stuff, but I haven't messed with it as much as I thought. I use the "Daily Briefing" app to check the news and weather daily. There's also a really cool Google Sky Map app, as well as Layar (a sorta Augmented Reality app using the camera). MTG Deck Forge is a good card program. My wife uses Paint Easy and SBMX for sketching on my phone. It comes with Swype, which I highly recommend you get, especially if you don't have a physical keyboard. Unblock Me is a fun as shit game. Zenonia is a great Secret of Mana style rpg with good controls. There's also Advanced Task Killer, which is a lot better than the standard Task Manager tool and your battery will love it. Finally, if you like sound when trying to sleep and don't have a computer nearby, Lightning Bug is a cool app to mix various white noise (like waves crashing, rain, lightning, birds, even traffic).

Also, Navigator (the main GPS app for driving somewhere) is very often used by me.

I like Pandora for radio, since it's free (with ads and limited skips). I also use the Facebook app on occasion. Like Ashe said, Zenonia and Zenonia 2 are excellent titles. I also recommend Radiant for a good Space Invaders clone. If you like to read, download Laputa (also free). It has an excellent selection of books to download for free. I also have an emulator on my Clix, for GBA stuff. Oooo! Also, download Minecraft Canary, if you're into that. It's an excellent quick reference tool. BestTube will be your friend if you like to download videos to watch outside 3G or better areas.
