At the risk of being yelled at, I hate it when you lane against champions that you just cannot do anything against in the laning situation.

That's when you need to yell at your team to help you do something about it. If you call for help or a gank or something and no one does anything, keep bugging them about it.

Also, saying something like "this is a hard lane" or "this is a bad champion pairing for me" is not the same as asking for a gank or for help. People are not mind readers and just making a comment doesn't mean everyone else is going to know it means "hey, I need some help" instead of thinking its just random commentary on the game.

Can you sketch this out a bit more fully? When is it appropriate to ask for a gank, and when is it more appropriate to simply stick it out in a tough lane?

If the people you are laning against are pushing you all the way to your tower and they are staying at pretty high health, switch out.

If you are getting pushed back but are dealing damage and they are pushed up, ask for a gank (or if you think that they might push up).

If you are pushing the waves back in turn and not getting dominated but maybe giving up some kills to get some kills, just tough it out.

If its evident that you can't do anything to stop them from taking the tower or if there's no chance you'll be able to get ANY farm or experience. Some good examples of that are Zilean or Xin Zhao. Zil you just need to keep pressure on so he can't dominate the lane with bombs. Xin Zhao starts slow, but reaches a point where he can walk up and kill people at will. Its something that you'll get more familiar with the more you play with/against champions.

There are also things you can do in lane to significantly mitigate the problems you'll have. A melee champ against Zil, for example. Yeah, the first 10 minutes are going to be ridiculously tough. Grab a Negtron Cloak and some health pots, though, and things get much, much easier.

Just try to gauge how you're trading against the enemy champions and think ahead to how that may/may not change as you gain levels. There are plenty of champions who change severely in-lane with level 6 (Mundo, Swain, Kog, etc.). I'd say its about 33% knowing the numbers and 66% having experience with champs. When in doubt, though, ask your team "hey, how do you guys think champion X lanes against champion Y?" Not only does that give you some feedback, but it puts in their heads that they might need to check on you every now and then.

To add to that, if you are asking for a gank from the jungler, please keep in mind where he is on the map and play accordingly. By all means say you want a gank at where ever, but if you are top and the jungler is bot, know that it'll be a little while and play safe until then. If you are fairly certain they will dive on you, just blue pill or get out however you can. Dying isn't worth it if you won't save the tower. And in a situation like that, you most likely won't, and probably won't get a kill either.

There's a lot of people like that, but as long as you ignore them, or play with mostly Chubbs people, it's greatly reduced (the raging ect.)

Also, the tribunal will probably weed out some of that shitty behavior.

This was actually a discussion in the main LoL thread.

Sometimes it is definitely appropriate. Sometimes it's really not. In most games, by the 20 minute mark, there haven't been many team fights. You could be down five or six kills, but it could mean nothing if the one real team fight was out of your control.

Determining whether or not a game is "close" is usually not possible by the 20 minute mark.
