Viva la no PP!

PP was added to curb the perma-SSJ possibility when we first turned over. It's also become a way to augment custom techniques into being more powerful.

Eh. I'm fine with pp, but I think it should auto regen after a saga or something. I understand the job system gives perks (as it should), but I don't think you should have to buy pp. It's silly, and it forces people to have a job. Frowny face irl.

You have to buy items to replenish PP. You use XP to increase your PP amount. It's a fair and simple system. No one is forcing you to have a job. You can have your character pick flowers for ten posts and get it graded for money.

Plus your argument had more basis when we didn't have the new Quest system. Now that we do I really have to ask why you aren't using them to earn the money needed.

It's seen as useless because we've had, like, no actual official PvE saga where the shit was tracked since the system was put in place.

It's that we need to change. We need to use what we have.

Because I don't like the quests? I don't like to be funneled into a path or be forced into something I don't want to do. I don't want to burn all my pp after a saga and be forced to write for a job, or a quest. I want to be able to write what I want, when I want, where I want.

I listed it as something I don't like, not something that you don't have a reason for. I'm sure it has a reason, I just don't see one that couldn't be replaced with something besides Zeni. You already have enough to burn it on with the pp boost items, or the headquarters stuff, weapons, etc.

A large portion of the point of premade quests is to help those who cannot come up with something to do to write. It's like buying a rotisserie chicken at the store and making your own mashed taters and corn (if you don't mind the food reference, but I think you get the point, yeah?). No one is stopping you or anyone from doing your own thing and just ignoring the quest system altogether. It's just there for those who wish to use it.

As far as a new system, I agree something should change. From my point of view, I think there needs to be some aesthetic changes (different layout, maybe some visuals to replace some stats, like percentage bars or some shit...just to make something we don't really use more interesting. just think of it as eye candy or some junk). We come to this site day in and day out and look at the same thing all the time and it would be nice to have something more...pleasing to look at. Not to knock becca's work on the banner but whoever's idea it was to cut it up, I want to take you into a closet and beat you with a sock full of oranges. If it comes down to it, I will make the layout myself, just have to get someone to take an afternoon or evening and put the modifications that need to be done into it.

On top of that, it would be cool to have better profile pages. I can come up with some mock pages soon, if you want.

We need something that is unique to us, and not just a modified copy of hundreds of other sites out there. We have some elements of it, but visual presentation is a large part of what is attractive to prospective members, too.

I don't think we use stats anyways, and we don't use the armor system either, and if it is being used, it's a very, very small portion of our already small active player base. Maybe we should focus more on the writing and storytelling for pleasure than on stats that do absolutely jack anyways, and if they stay, keep them for eye candy or something. This site has been changing and evolving for years, and save for a few bits of fresh blood now and then, have retained the same player base we've had for a decade. We know what we want, what works, and doesn't work, and every element that has been put forward has been a learning experience to improve upon.

I feel like we came to a fairly good consensus a few months ago about what people wanted and such, after massive discussion. I'm too lazy to do that again for no reason, it's still around.

But in response to the OP: I like PP.

I agree about teh profiles.

It'd be sweet if our stats were bars, I agree. I'm imagining something ala LoL, but any kind of visual representation would be cool.

We have one of these threads up every few months where people push around ideas that, so they say, will bring them back into activity. And then staff implements what people want, and no one budges, and then there are more excuses, and then we have another one of these threads.

Arguing about whether or not we have PP, or whether or not people like pre-made vs. non-pre-made quests, and how PP should be replenished, is not going to affect the activity on this site, at all. The only way I've seen a system change affect activity is a large-scale overhaul, like what we did in 09 that triggered activity for a year and a half or so, before it died again. Tinkering with tiny, insignificant things isn't going to make anyone post.

I don't really care too much about PP tbh, I just didn't wanna post the empty thread and it was the first thing to come to mind.

Does honesty earn respect or inspire revenge? Is it smarter to attack the strong or annihilate the weak?

So... to the people who are agreeing with Trafford... why are you posting here, then?

Why not go RP?

I really feel like any time spent replying to posts from people here will be a complete waste of my time because you've already stipulated that for any good to come from anything people need to be posting.

If we think we can do something to take a legitimate step forward, we'll do it. 90% of the things proposed, though, would be taking a step sideways, not forward. There's no point in that. We'd put in a lot of time and effort for that same 2~3 month surge of activity that any change might create.

EDIT: Belle's Rank idea is a good one, as an example. If Waffuru PMed me tonight and said "no reason Ranks wouldn't be easy to do" there's a very, very good chance it would be put into the RPG. Just because big changes don't happen doesn't mean we're not willing to make them. We want to change things for the best while creating as little impact to the players and their characters as possible. That's not particularly easy to do.

You don't think the system matters. Noted! Now, I know this is crazy, but some of us have read this exact same post by you several times before, and we haven't accepted the truth of your words! (I know - morons, heh) But since the system doesn't matter anyway, would it be alright if you humour us and let us discuss it? I mean, if that's okay with you. Otherwise, I guess just keep posting this, we might smarten up enough to understand what you're saying eventually.
