Joining - Katelyn Ross
#1
Hi! This is Juno! I am back to try my hand at rejoining this place and getting back into my writing groove, so hopefully I will be able to keep up more long-term this time. I would like to start from scratch, if that’s alright. I would have logged in as Juno or Iris, but I couldn’t remember my password.

Name — Katelyn Ross
Age — Sixteen
Race — Generic (Human)
Sex — Female
Starting Planet — Mercy-sei
Profession — Treasure Hunter (Rank 1)
Fighting Style — Defensive
Short Bio
  • Katelyn Ross was born on Earth, seventeen years prior to the current date. She lived in relative normalcy, but soon discovered that she was gifted with abilities beyond the scope of a normal human’s. These newfound abilities gave her an eagerness for adventure that life in her small cow-town could never satiate, so she reluctantly fled the planet, searching for excitement in the stars. She soon found that she had a knack for finding treasure, and has used this to help her become self-sufficient.

General Description
  • Katelyn looks like a pretty normal young girl. She has long, blonde hair that runs to the middle of her back. It may, however, be even longer than it appears, because she consistently has it tucked under a little purple beanie-style cap. Purple is her favorite color, and this is apparent in her style of dress, usually. Occasionally she will branch out, but a purple vest and skirt coupled with a blue-and-white striped t-shirt is her current favorite outfit of choice. (Picture of Katelyn: Here.) This is subject to change, as I have not completely decided on Katelyn's portrayer.

Starting Abilities — Ki Sense; Immaterial
Trait — Compassionate
Stats
  • Strength - 10%
  • Focus - 30%
  • Endurance - 30%
  • Agility - 40%

Role-play Sample
  • Back on Earth, Katelyn’s parents made it a habit to inform her of how unwise it was to talk to strangers. The girl had no illusions that her parents were alone in this — quite the contrary, in fact, she knew that every single childrearing husband and wife alive probably pestered their children with that same lesson. Up until the age of five or six, that is.

Her mother and father, however, had continued drilling that creed into her head even into her teenage years, right up until the point when she had run away from home. She supposed that they had good reason — she had always been a social butterfly, after all.

Now, though, it seemed any inhibitions she had possessed before about talking to strangers had completely disappeared, replaced by something which Katelyn could only describe as a distinctly youthful recklessness. She didn’t care, though — these days, taking risks was the only way she was ever going to have fun, even in such an exotic section of the galaxy.

“I don’t appreciate your sass,” the big lug that sat across from her warned, narrowing his eyes and furrowing his brow in what looked like an attempt to incite fear in her. Katelyn, though, would have none of it. In her experience, which admittedly was very little, guys like this were all bark and no bite. She could handle guys like that, because as weak as she may have looked, she was convinced that something fearsome was hidden within her.

“And I don’t appreciate your stalling,” she scowled, slamming her hands into the table, “I was told that my skills were needed. If that isn’t the case…”

Inside, she was smirking mischievously. She didn’t really know why she felt so intimidating, but something about the fact that for the first time ever, someone had called her specifically, as opposed to her offering up herself for a job, made her feel confident; cocky, even, she thought. It lit up a fire inside her stomach.

She wasn’t even thinking about the potential danger. She was aware in some facet of her mind that the eyes of patrons had turned on her just now. She had disturbed their drinking games with her raucous intimidation tactics, and that had caused the attention of every gambler and gangster in the bar to refocus on the conversation that she found herself a part of at the moment. Surprisingly, though, that didn’t scare her as much as she had expected it to — on the contrary, in fact; it thrilled her.

The hulking alien that sat across from her kept his gaze locked. She had hoped that, perhaps, her comeback would have knocked his focus awry; that maybe he would break eye-contact. None of that happened, however, and she found herself staring awkwardly back at him for a good ten seconds before either of them dared to speak again.
