The Dominion Thread
#1
Dominion just sounds awesome. Really, really awesome. There are couple things people should probably see/read if they're interested in the new game mode.

http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/04/league...n-preview/

http://www.zam.com/story.html?story=27239&storypage=2

http://www.g4tv.com/games/pc/64229/leagu...z1U7yVU6Rq

A few articles, both with some screenshots. A few bits of conflicting information (mostly about wards) but nothing major in that regard.

http://gotgame.com/2011/08/04/league-of-...m-cadwell/

An interview with a nice of gameplay footage as well.

Some huge points:
-Players start the map with ~1375 gold
-Players start at level 3
-Quests will spawn for a given team during game that, upon completion, will damage the enemy nexus
-Teleport and Fortify are being removed as Summoners on this map
-Promote is being added back in for Dominion
-A new summoner spell called Garrison is being added. It buffs an allied tower or nerfs an enemy tower
-There will be pick ups that restore health and/or mana laying in the "jungle"
-Speed boosts will be provided to champions who walk over them

There will also be some changes to the available items:
Removing Madred's Razor (and all items it makes)
Removing Doran's items (but whatev, we start with 1300 gold)
Removing Banshee's Veil

Adding "Ionic Spark" (Attack Speed and HP with some kind of "chain lightening" proc)
Adding "Odyn's Veil" (Stores magic damage your champ takes and can be activated to explode the stored damage)
Adding "Prospector's Ring"
Adding "Hextech Sweeper"
Adding "Oracle's Extract"

------

So there's some condensed info, most of which came from various forums with differing levels of perceived credibility. I'm really looking forward to it.

Another big change is the "personal score" system which sounds absolutely awesome. The game will track a player's personal score and things like caps and defends, completing quests, getting pick-ups, will all add to that score. The idea is to de-emphasize K/D/A ratios as a stat.

Super excited to this.

Some champs that I think will be absolute beasts are Trundle, Warwick, Fiddle, Lee Sin, and Kassadin. Anyone with super high mobility or insane location-based awesomeness.

Also, what would people buy with 1375 gold for starting items?

So, straight up, I think boots is a required one.

So what do you do with 1025... A Philosopher's Stone at level 3 would be pretty devastating.

POTS. Full build right from the get-go, yes!

I was thinking buying 2/5 boots (or 3, dunno) and then some mana regen. With no blue buff (Which I always thought was stupid to rely on anyway) I think Tear and Chalice are going to be seeing a lot more play.

One of the articles talked about how champions seemed to take on some new roles pretty naturally. Tanks disrupted enemies from stealing points. Assassins and mages could intercept people with damage and cc and bruisers went and for the captures. Sounds like there's lots of room to experiment with champions.

Might be able to hit more than one person with Karma's heal for once. Sweet

I hadn't considered using Karma on this map. She might be srs bsns with a speed buff that can hit the whole team.

EDIT: Even then, though, I see no reason to pick her over Sona for that. So maybe nm.

In that case, it might turn out a lot like all but one battleground in WoW. This would get more WoW PvP geeks into the game.

I c wut u did thar, Riot.

"Hey there! Lemme just light your ass up!"

Something else I meant to put in the OP: runes.

Since we start at level 3, scaling runes are going to be a lot more powerful, I think.
