RAGE Thread
I'm pretty much with Josh. If I ever complain that someone stole my kill, assume I'm joking 100% of the time.

If life gives you lemons, hand them to me!
I've got a great recipe for lemon meringue pie.

You can KS. It's definitely a thing. There have been plenty of times where I've had a kill 100% secured and someone else swoops in get the actual last hit. I can't count the number of times I yelled at Teemer for killing with Tantrum, for example.

There are a lot of cases where I don't mind. Like a Noct comes to gank and he gets the kill instead of Caitlyn. That doesn't bother me one bit. When Taric gets the kill with Shatter, though, for First Blood when the killing bullet was actually in mid-air... that's annoying.

Kill Securing implies that the kill was not actually secured before your intervention. I ask people on a regular basis "you got that?" while they're fighting. If they say they do, I try to get in for an assist and then move on to something else. If they say no or that they're not sure or something like that, then I step in to help secure.

But yeah, I usually FORGET to ask. I do this with Janna a LOT. I need to start remembering to ask. A lot of times I'm just trying to get like, assist gold and accidentally kill the bastards. It's a very, very bad habit, but I still want DAT GOLD, so I'm not sure when it's like, justified.

I like to think of myself as a guy who judges on intention. When people accidentally get a last hit on a hero because we're duking it out 2v1 and he just lands the hit? No problem.

When he flashes over (as I'm next to the guy who's dying) as Pantheon with him under 10% hp (that's 100%(?) crit chance, mind) pops ignite and uses his ult to get the kill and I type in chat "wow" and he responds in a hostile or dismissive fashion, there's something known as killstealing.

It's just a bloody waste of abilities for no reason other than an incremental to a stat. It frustrates me to no end when people waste useful abilities that could have been used for something else to just stomp a guy's dead corpse into the ground in order to "guarantee he's dead", to only get jumped by the enemy team and you know what? That Tristana ult would have been AWESOME as they came in a direct line towards us.

This is me. Another good example is that Jax that stands next to the fight and basically watches the fight happen but refuses to assist until the other guy is about to die, then uses a single Leap Strike to get the actual kill, then runs back out. Yeah, he "got his assist" and more gold was spread, but this dick isn't actually using the gold to contribute back to the team so much as padding his scoreboard. You can almost count on not seeing this guy ever until the moment of "securing the kill" every team fight, peacing out immediately after until he can get that last hit once more.

Katarina can sometimes be a good example of this with Shunpo, but a lot of people mistake a cat stealing with Shunpo for a Kat that ults half their team down while they were tunnel visioned on that one character that made them rage.

OK... I should have clarified. In a game where the whole time is actually NOT trying to troll or be dicks, then by all means do what you can to make sure an assist happens, even if you happen to KS.

To the people that really do just try to KS by not assisting in the fight at all and only go for the killing blow, well, they aren't really playing for the team and won't be reading this then?
I should have also said that I 100% agree with trying to spread around assist gold. More team gold = more team advantage = better chance of winning. Winning is awesome. How else are we going to get external validation if we just lose?

The term "kill steal" gets used in a lot of cases where it shouldn't be. The last game I played I was Cait. We had a Kassadin chasing someone down. Kass was almost out of mana (I checked after this, he had 24 MP) and was chasing down one of the enemy teammates. I just barely get in range of my snipe and queue it up. Before the shot goes off, Kass blinks onto the enemy and hits him with a Q and his autoattack (he is then at the aforementioned 24 MP) and my ult goes off and gets the kill. The Kass then whines that I KS'ed him. Kass did the absolute maximum amount of damage he could with the resources available to him and could not kill. At that point it is not a KS. It is me giving him an assist instead of nothing. Yes, he ended up doing most of the work, but, as it turned out, he didn't do enough. I didn't waste time explaining that to him, I just said "sry was trying to help" and went back to my lane.

The other time KS gets misused is when two people are equally (or almost equally) contributing to a fight and one person just gets the killing blow before the other. This is usually when I get annoyed because, say, Taric or Amumu got the kill over my Corki. That's not a KS. That's just unfortunate.

As a point of clarification, when I get annoyed about that, it's not about the other person 90% of the time. I'm annoyed because I misjudged the amount of damage I could do and ended up getting an assist instead of a kill. That's usually annoyance about timing or position or something like that. People shouldn't take that personally. If I feel like the other person did something that caused them to get the kill instead of me, I'll points that out ("Taric: use your shatter at the beginning of the fight so they have less armor instead of when they're almost dead" would be an example).

Fuck Fiddle, I think is the key phrase.

Also lawl Rammus

(I'd like to point out that for all three games, I didn't end up on a team with a heal a single time)

I wanted a quick win-of-the-day, so I decided to play against bots. I got matched with four other peeps, a yi, a kassadin, ok whatever.

I'm Akali. At the end of the laning phase, I've got a 19 kill streak. It was pretty great. I was trying to give my lanemate Brand some kills, but he was dumb and not-at-all defensive, so I ended up having to nick up the kills while he recalled.

End result, I'm superfed, and my team is pretty underfed. Our kass is 1/3/2 and has mejai's. I made the cheeky mistake of asking him to sell mejai's.

And the trolling began. I'm trying to keep the team together, to keep them from being retarded (since interm bots will steamroll you if you don't keep it all together). Yi kept dicking off to jungle when teamfights started; kassadin wouldn't get involved at all until a champ was down to 10%, at which point he'd try to do his flash-thing in and secure the kill (this was the other reason I asked him to sell mejai's); and brand was still not-at-all-effective. I kept trying to give them kills, but since everyone else was scared of getting bursted down, and since I was the most fed (and had tanky runes), I was in the thick of it, and when mf would try to escape with a sliver of health, I had to cap the kill.

And so, of course, I got yelled at for ks-ing.

I'd ping to indicate we need to defend turret, and yi would respond by pinging their nexus over and over for fifteen seconds.

We could've won at the 20 minute mark easily, if people just played sensibly. And I didn't even berate them or anything.

Kass asked me if I intended to apologize (I guess for asking him to sell mejai's?). I said no. And he said, basically, 'I guess you'll have to surrender if you want this game to end.'

And then he and yi and rumble would team up to ambush our wraiths. Super, super trolling. I'd give compliments, ('yi op' when he'd take a turret), and got told to 'QQ more'. It made absolutely no sense.

Reported the kass.

EDIT: We did end up winning at the 45 minute mark. I went something like 33/2/20.

can't you just leave bot games?

Not really a rage, but just a sad. AP Panth in ranked and I was doing pretty good. Early game, the Brand/Akali lane destroyed us and we didn't get a gank until they were both level 6. Mid game I caught my second wind, landing perfectly timed ults and starting really good team fights. It kinda hurts when AP Panth jumps on all five faces with his ult.

Late game we were neck and neck. Neither team has a clear advantage and we were all pushed back pretty far. They grabbed baron and pushed us, then we engaged in a 5v4 while their Ez was trying to push back top. We ended up killing 4 of their 5 barons and pushed top to the inhib (and killed it). We were ahead at that point. We all went back, grabbed our items, and started to push bot. Expecting that they'd expect us, we hid in the bush while I stayed below and waited for my ult. Suddenly Akali and Udyr. I melted as I was channeling my ult. Single handedly lost the entire game with that mistake.

It makes me feel a little better knowing our Xin (who went mid) went 3/14/13 which was worse than my 7/13/15 and a tower destroyed. Only a little.

I will say, Tyr, that if a Pantheon has enough time to flash, ignite, AND ult, you deserved to lose that kill.
Whoops, a "with me" got lost in the woods. I was Pantheon and I believe the KS'er was Tristana.
