Hey,
I joined with the abilities Martial Arts Specialization and Foresight. I kinda used Foresight in my joining sample, but not in my posts. Is it too late to swap that ability out for another one? I couldn't find anything for or against it in the rules...but I kinda gather it's a little late.... :S

Actually, let me flesh this out a little more. I think if I had another ability, it would give me a better base for custom techniques that I've been thinking of. So maybe I should just lay that out, and maybe the switch would be unnecessary for that after all. Because I'm not sure what kind of prerequisites would be needed for these. They'd probably be for down the line (with my currently low purchasing power), but I could set up for them now. So I can repost these in the Custom Techniques thread for a price -- I'm just curious if they're feasible with the current abilities I have. Unless I've just posted this wrong...? i think I'm now officially losing sleep over this...lol....
Bloodhound: Mentally focus on a target, then track it to its physical location. This would involve some kind of Tele-something, yeah?
Muscle Memory: Detect a person's physical strength and abilities (and therefore weaknesses) by mapping out a history of his/her movements. Maaaaaybeeeeee it could also detect whatever ki manipulation had happened so long as it had been channelled through a person's body. I figured this could be observational (like an extension of how you can read people by how they move), so it would stem out of Martial Arts Specialization.
Bandura's Lesson: Perfectly reproduce the physical movement of any observed movement just having seen it once. I was also thinking maybe ki manipulation would apply to this one, too, if it was channelled through the body. O.o This technique would also stem from Martial Arts Specialization.
(I had an afterthought of maybe Muscle Memory and Bandura's Lesson would be unnecessary, and just kind of fall under Martial Arts Specialization anyway.... In which case the clever names were created in vain... Any thoughts on that, too?)

Blood hound sounds a bit like Ki Sense and Muscle Memory sounds al ot like one of Kadens moves based off Ki Sense as well.. That one Byakugan move... Dont it?

To answer your original question it is a little too late to swap out without it counting as a switch. Now to answer your question about the techniques. Mal is correct Bloodhound and Muscle Memory would require Ki Sense to be pulled off. Bandura's Lesson is fine, because you have Martial Arts Specialization. Assuming you mean fighting style and actual movement. Replicating techniques can't be done and to copy abilities you'd need Mimic.
Martial Arts Specialization would however allow you to make a short range type of sense that would allow your character detect movement in an eight foot radius around her. We have a precedence for it. Now to clarify you wouldn't be detecting Ki or Techniques you'd be detecting physical muscle movement.

Mmmmm, I see. Thank you. I WILL MAKE IT WORK!!!
That said, I have more questions.
1) What you're saying about the detecting movement. That's a technique, yeah? And it wouldn't let me know anything specific about the character, just that movement had happened? As in, would I know a 250lb man wielding a pipe was behind me and not a 5 year old girl with an ice cream?
Also, could an extension of this, probably another technique but in the same vein, be that I can tell if statements are true or false based on physiological reactions (which may not necessarily be visible but i'd be able to sense, like quickened heart rate)?
2) With Foresight (not a technique based off of it, but that ability itself) can I find items within my area. Say, i'm in my room looking for my keys. I see myself finding my keys on the table. Then I know the keys are on the table and go get them. ?
3) Does Foresight play out in real time -- like i have to wait and watch it happen for as long as it does, or is it as instantaneous as thought? If this isn't inherent in the ability, could it be a technique?
4) Does Foresight only let me see what happens in MY future, or can it see someone else's? As in, let's say there's someone in another city. Can I see what happens to him in the next few seconds? If not, could this be a technique? Or would that also require ki sense to lock onto a person like that?
5) Can I train Foresight to extend beyond a few seconds through other techniques? Or can I cast the time I see into the future-ish, say...I get to see what happens for a few seconds in a few hours from now?
6) Is there a point where if I ask enough questions I'll a) be approved for an ability switch, or b) be ejected from the site?
Thank you! And yes! The answers so far have helped! ^_^

So, keeping in mind my lack of officialtude, my thoughts:
1)I would imagine so, although you shouldn't take children with ice cream lightly. For the little add-in there, I can't say I believe that to be related at all to anything Martial Arts Spec, but again, that's me.
2) I dunno why not
3) I've actually wondered about this myself, but my guess is it's left to your personal taste.
4) Unless said other person was relatively close proximity, I'd assume no.
5)It's not in his roster but I could've sworn Belle had something where he scanned the area around him for a 30 second preview of what was going to happen. I'll see if I can find it and whether it got approved.
6)If you ask enough questions and one of them eventually is "Can I get a char switch to change this ability?" Yes. ;D
And, once more for CYA, this is my take, not the official beliefs of feelings of Chubbs, Inc.
Edit: for #5, Belle does have it, just doesn't have the description attached to the skill name: Flash: After honing his abilities in the Room of Spirit and Time, Belle has better learned how to control his budding Foresight. By taking an instant to concentrate, Belle is able to glean the immediate future of the area, objects, and people around him, to the tune of a dozen or so seconds.

Actually, Vad just sad there was precedence for it.
The precedence he is refering to, I believe, is Fighting Sense. It was a technique that was cheap and was removed I guess because it lessened Ki Sense and MAS, or something. As to how indepth it goes, I think that is entirely up to the handler as long as it isn't god modded. Think about all the anime(movie and books as well) situations you may have watched where sometimes a character will feel that odd sense that they are being watched or think there may be someone hiding behind a tree and go., "Who's there?" Then, in some situations you have two people having a conspiracy type conversation with some stealthy

Which part were you addressing, out of curiosity?
Edit: If you were talking about the second line of what I said for #1, I was referring to

As for that being part of MAS, it just seems odd to me if it is part of the ability:
"Martial Arts Specialization - Whether through years and years of careful training, or simple in-born talent, some people are simply geniuses in the martial arts. Those with this ability are considered to be extremely effective fighters."

Having spent years as a martial artist, Vad has learned to use all of his senses to their fullest. The sound of a footstep, the smell of sweat and blood, and even the smallest twitch of muscles allow Vad to keep track of those he's in close combat with. He can detect movements of people within 8 feet of him thanks to his martial skills and training.
I'm going to place this here for my reference and ask that you guys wait until I get home from the dealer so I can reply accordingly. I'm on my phone at the moment.

For some reason I overlooked that part lol O_O. But it seems you'd need Telekinesis or something for that if someone wanted a 'lie detector' type tech, then again Im sure it'd have a fail rate>_>

1) The quoted technique called Tactic's is what I was referring to. With MAS and a technique of similar make (or a carbon copy. I don't mind) you're able to keep track of movement within the eight foot radius. It isn't specific as it's meant to be used in hand to hand combat. You would not be able to tell the difference between a little girl and a giant man.
2) I have no problem with Foresight doing this with just the base ability.
3) I've seen it roleplayed as both. It's really up to you. You can either have it be instaneous or you can have it slowly appear to her.
4) You are allowed to see someone elses. If you were to try that on another player you'd need to clear it with them first. As for the second part. I'm going to say that you can detect the future of someone else in a different city, but without knowing their face already you wouldn't be able to detect who they were. You would need Ki Sense to lock onto someone directly from afar, yes.
5) As Rafael said we have a precedence for it through Belle. So yes.
6) You can switch abilities at any time, but it'll reset your character. Meaning that you'll lose 50% of your CA, your zeni, and all bought techniques. You'll retain unspent XP though. Oh and I'll be banning you shortly. (I kid)
If there's anything else I can do. Feel free to ask. XD I apologize for the delay. I'm forgetful lately. I was going to reply earlier this week, but I misplaced it in my list of things to do. <3?

Mmm, got it. Thank you all for the thoughtful answers!
For that add on about the lie detector, my thoughts were that fighters are trained to be highly attuned to all things physical -- how someone holds their weight, how they move, posture, breathing, etc. So I thought a possible extension would be an awareness of other physiological changes that could even alert me to maybe actually a wider application than just lying, maybe just emotion in general. Having said this though, I'm not sure this is actually important enough to learn as a technique lol. I actually feel this way about a few of the techniques I've been thinking of...haha...sigh...

I'm not sure why it would actually need to be a technique, other then for flavor(I have a few of these actually).
But I don't see everyone's character showing physical tells to detect lies.
