So yeah. Dominion. It's a thing now.

One thing I meant to mention the last time we played Dominion: I was really impressed that they were able to just turn a major feature on/off without breaking everything for everyone or us having to restart clients or anything.

Chances are they leave it all active and everything they just simply remove the option to see it when you pick a game type. Pretty easy to do I imagine once you've set it up to work.

Funniest moment was arriving a split second too late to stop Alistar from taking the artifact, then proceeding to whittle him down till we were both at 35% health, then popping my ult and watching him flee back to his base.

Why Warmog's on Dominion? Do you really get time to flesh it out?

I said this to someone in Mumble the other day, but I think Warmog's is a really bad item for Dominion. You're spending a lot of gold for a stacking ability you won't really be able to use. There are other very good options for HP.

I don't think there are any other items that even come close to rivaling Warmog's in terms of raw HP. The only thing that does is maybe Frozen Mallet (700 as opposed to Warmog's base of 920), but the FM costs 3250 total to make, where Mog's takes 3000 (4.64g/hp and 3.26g/hp, respectively). This difference only gets wider as you get kills/assists on enemy champions which, as you know, happens a lot more in Dominion than in SR. It takes 10 kill/assists to max out the item, so it's not like Mog's doesn't reach a fraction of its potential. I usually end Dom games with Mog's 50-75% charged.

There are obviously ancillary benefits to each item that you can't ignore, and in this FM is better. FM and Mundo Cleaver makes it almost impossible for someone to get away, and the added damage is okay, too (though compared to the benefit Mundo gets from his steroid, it's not that big a deal). Mog's health regen is a'ight, but doesn't see a ton of use on Dominion when the breaks between fights are so short, and you can fully heal yourself in seconds by B'ing. In terms of offensive utility, FM wins.

There are also alternatives, like Randuin's omen, which while providing (relatively) little HP, also provide a ton of armor and a passive+active that are good for shutting down carries; Sunfire Cape is also good. I don't necessarily have a 'problem' with these items, but by the end of a match, if I'm gearing towards defense of a particular damage type, it tends to already be obscene. In most of my matches against physical carries, when I've picked up that ninja tabi+thornmail etc., I have like over 250 armor, and that's probably already too much.

I like to build enormous 'fuck off' tanks. Mogs is, like, the best HP item that I can see, period. If someone has a way to get more HP per gold, let me know.

I actually didn't realize that was all it took to cap a Warmog's. That's actually not bad.

And yes, in terms of raw HP, Warmog's is the best item in the game. That said, HP is all it does. Sunfire and Randuin's are, I think, the best defensive items because, while they provide less raw HP, they give multiplicative defensive stats and provide other bonuses (attack speed debuff is particularly hard to come by, making Randuin's pretty badass).

The catch here, of course, is that Mundo is one of the few champs who really gets good use out of raw HP.

EDIT: A general point I like to remind people of as often as possible: until you hit ~160 armor/MR (not hard, really) you get survivability from armor/MR than you do HP. This is referred to as Effective Hit Points or EHP. So, the recommendation for going tanky is to grab a small HP item (Heart of Gold is an easy go-to) and then by defensive stats until you hit that threshold of armor/MR. Obviously, though, buying items with both armor/MR and HP provide the most benefit, since, as I said above, they're multiplicative.
