What would you roleplay?
#1
I'm not even going to :effort: this post, pretty much what it says in the title: what would it take for you to roleplay here again? Is it a lack of inspiration, boredom with the setting, or after so many years is Life just winning out?

I'm kinda bored with Dragonball Z, myself. I'd love to do something a little more current that's still ongoing to write in, as well. The best option, IMO, would be One Piece, which is very much the spiritual successor to Dragonball.

Interested to hear what you guys think.

I'm working on a Zeon and Earth Federation oriented Gundam RPG with Sigfried. I've been dying to roleplay being a pilot of something. I'll keep you informed.

I'm kind of frustrated with just the status quo. Id like to keep my character, the other characters in the world (or at least a few) but have an entirely new site with fresh blood and not have to deal with the same management or bitter interaction with half the members of the site.

I love most people here but I also am just so sick of how repressed and tedious it is.

I don't know any more. I'm still a diehard DBZ fan at heart but willing to try something else.

Naruto, Bleach, Full Metal Alchemist, One Piece(though I know little about the series).

If it appeals to me I'll rp.

it would require me running out of games I wanna play. What brought me here originally was more running out of games than anything. Every once in a while when I get bored I draft a post or two but it never lasts long enough for me to complete one.

As far as other series, I only have more than a passing knowledge of Naruto and Bleach. Bleach is more entertaining to watch for me except when Ichigo is around, but it seems like it'd be pretty limited customization-wise compared to what we have now. Naruto is probably more suited to the kind of thing we have now.

FMA I know very little about combat-wise and I only read the first couple books of One-Piece way back in the day. There wasn't a lot of interesting, for lack of a better word, magic, but it seems fairly popular so I imagine stuff more interesting than kiddie Dhalsim and fighting with a sword in your mouth has happened since then.

I would need a new environment, as I'm tired of DBZ, and some consistent activity. I don't know why, but I can't RP regularly on a site that doesn't have consistent activity, it just feels like it's not worth my time.

I don't follow any anime series, so for me it'd have to be something like a fantasy style RPG. Like Skyrim would serve as a good basis for an RPG world, ya know. Like that dark, open-ended fantasy setting that's both "do yo own thing" and "storylines bringing in all the world." Idk

I honestly think it's the inactivity that has prevented me from being active for a while. When you really think about it though your inactivity due to inactivity just creates more inactivity. xD

I think people need to communicate more. From what I've seen people only rp together during, right before or post sagas. Besides that its like one or two people back and forth then one person "dies"/mia and the other loses interest. Maybe if people collaborated more the ideas would be fresher and you could regain interest. I mean outside of your normal box not just writing with the guy you wrote with when you were "x" back when this guy was "z" and you guys were friends before the reset.

Another element would be interesting but in all actuality Chubbs is a custom site. The only people making it DBZ-ish is us now. Just rp your characters different. Someone with elemental ki could just as easily RP about fire bending or alchemy then they could shooting fire balls to collide with ki.

Maybe the planets and the name is all that could use some changing but as it stands I think this is a pretty solid RPG with a diverse community. People just need to stop being so focused with politics and more on the things that keep us distracted.

I mean sure you can talk about it but when people are signing on three days in a row and the only thread with new posts are ones focused on argument's...I don't know about you guys but that's not what I join rpgs for. =/

And then I stroll into the thread all ready to post and shit and all I can do is quote because this is pretty much spot on with me.

I would really like to do something like what Kaden's proposing, in a self contained world, but I know that almost nobody from the current group is gonna write and trying to find NEW people to write will be hard.

A contained world might be just what is needed. I'd imagine half the reason why people don't write together is because they can't. They're stuck on a different planet for one reason or another. I'm down to write and new recruitment's not really that hard, staff just needs to re-focus efforts on advertisements and affiliation for a while.

Maybe somebody will even do the homepage finally...xD

I wanna get back to roleplaying in RSR but I keep missing the other people from it when I'm online, and I want to check it's all cool and such before I do >_>

And on a side-note, I have something I've been working on for several years now which should serve as a nice alternative to DBZ, you should hear something by the end of March.

I don't write because my time is occupied with other (often more important) things, and I don't want to waste it working on somthing that doesn't feel like it means anything and will only be read by two or three people.

Just some people to roleplay with, I think. The times I was most active (such as running a saga) is when people were depending on me and pushing me.

EDIT:

And Piper had a good point, too. I'd like to know that people are actually reading, on occasion. My only fight in the League still hasn't been graded, about two and a half months after we finished. I enjoyed doing it, because I had someone to write with, but it doesn't feel like anybody aside from me and Mal actually cared about it. Once upon a time, people would IM me an hour after I wrote a random roleplay to give me critism, and I loved it.

OMG...Burter and Yamcha. Path of Fire. I will never forget it, that has to be one of my my all time favorite experiences. I was like, "I'm super cool, I'm writing with Burter" xD

I was part of a chubbs that actually read shit for about two months. Even then it was tenative and difficult to pull out of people. I think the reason I enjoyed the invasion saga so much was because people were reading (at first), even if they had practically no option. I love reading other peoples stuff but I'm not gonna bother if nobody reads mine

I don't write because nobody reads the stuff.

I don't write because the current Chubbs-universe is pretty damn bland.

I don't write because quantity is the sole barometer for statistical advancement, and I can't get it out of my head.

I would be more likely to write in an environment that doesn't have stats. Settings of interest: SoIaF-esque fantasy (mature, serious, mild-on-the-supernaturalism), and zombie apocalypse.

Self-contained world, with a mild (not so supernatural), dark fantasy setting.

Like one large city (so we can have free access to meet up with anyone, ever) and the area just surrounding it (Kinda of a DA2 self-contained world deal), and I like the Song of Ice and Fire deal.
