There's a system of diminishing returns on Armor and MR. You get more from Armor when you don't have very much, but less when you already have a bunch. Given the amount of gold that Armor items and HP items cost, you end up getting more defense for your money when you put it towards HP after you hit that ~160 threshold.

Of course, that doesn't mean that having more than that is dumb or worthless or whatever. If you had, like, 100 armor that doesn't mean that Thornmail (which gives you 100 Armor on its own) is suddenly an awful item. Could you more efficiently maximize your survivability if you used that same gold for something else? Probably, in a mathcraft kind of way, but that probably wasn't the point of buying the Thornmail in the first place.

Same thing goes for Randuin's Omen, Aegis of the Legion, Banshee's Veil, etc.. They all provide a lot more than the raw stats on the item. The diminishing returns thing is just something to keep in mind for those situations where all you care about is being as survivable as possible as efficiently as possible.

I don't know of a dodge cap per se other than there literally not being that much dodge gear. Something tells me stacking Ninja Tabi doesn't work, though.

Everyone tells me that the dodge cap is 40% and Jax is the only one that can get close to it. Actually he can get 1% past it.

11% Runes
12% Boots
18% Counterstrike.

Edit: They actually might stack because it's not unique. Only the Move speed is.

I think you're talking about CDR, which has a 40% cap. I've never heard of anything else having a cap, beyond the whole "as much as you can fill in 6 slots" limitation.

I may have been one. I tend to switch up when I'm talking about Dodge and CDR (which has a 40% cap). Dodge doesn't have one, to my knowledge.

I know someone in mumble said it. Think it was Josh, but not entirely sure. I was in it and was talking about runes, how I was getting Movement speed and attack speed runes and the person said that I should get Dodge runes instead because Jax gets the closest to the 40% cap.

And Sivir, not Jax, can attain the highest dodge ratio, albeit by spamming Ninja Tabis.
