Hm. This may be the one time where I'm the lucky few in regard to bugs in a game. The only ones I've seen are the giant launch one(and I prefer having it to not =D )and a bookshelf storage bug from one of the patches that got fixed the next day. So...like that, hate stuff not working for others.

To me, the single biggest indicator of how fucked up game journalism is is how Bethesda's games consistently get called Game of the Year, because I have never played one of them that wasn't more bug-ridden than your average MMO beta. Not "well that was lazy, but it hasn't really affected my enjoyment of the game" bugs - more like "dear christ this game needed another year of development, how did this get approved let alone critically acclaimed" bugs.

Mostly because every game Bethesda releases is as fucking full of ambition as can be.

Their games are buggy, but every GotY they've earned (with the exception of Fallout 3) is well-deserved, imo.

As someone who loves ambition and innovation, I strongly disagree. Given that the core gameplay of Bethesda games never really change, I would expect their innovations to be awesome. When I used to read about upcoming Bethesda games, I would get real excited, and then when the game was released I'd feel massively let down. Radiant AI? Unrealised. Companions? Slowly slowly getting better. New Vegas's realism mode? Neat, but not very realistic. I respect them for trying, but coming up with an awesome concept means nothing unless you figure out a way to implement it in such a way that it actually does what you dreamed it would do.

I can't judge Skyrim because I decided to stop believing the pre-release hype, but honestly it seems like an "if you liked our other games, buy this because it's more of the same" kind of thing. Watching playthroughs, it could essentially be Fallout 3 with more British people and less guns.

I've not been impressed with the Fallout series.

Bethesda didn't develop New Vegas.

Hate: Family deaths around Christmas.

A rather disproportional amount of my family member losses have happened within two weeks of Christmas, give or take. Its something that's always kind of lingered there. The oldest I remember was my dad's father holding out till the day after Christmas, having stated that he wasn't going to ruin everyone's Christmas by dying during it. Since then, it seems to happen every year with that side of the family, but usually people I'm not close to.

That said, we also have quite a few December birthdays.

Haven't actually read it yet, I should note. Nor did I actually check the amazon ratings, heh. But I've read some of Carey's stuff before and he's not bad. I just like the concept of what it's about.
