This isn't mere e-drama, this is a guy having his company destroyed via bad PR gone viral thanks to his general douchebaggery towards not only customers, but one of the most well known public figures of the general gaming community. Add a dash of him being denounced by people he name dropped as supporting him (and/or his company) and the spreading of this across major gaming news sites and it just keeps getting crazier and crazier.

It's hilarious.

you know, ray kurzweil, the guy i linked to has spoken about the democratizing effect of communication technology which is the overarcing point there. he predicted the fall of ussr based on his tech foresight, accurately predicted when the internet would go mainstream, speaks often about how vidyagamesare a powerful medium for virtual world development, and other things. unfortunately, he's a huge nerd and he's not very photogenic.

point being that i'm a recent convert of ray's and everybody else should be too.

EDIT: Ray Kurzweil is interesting. My understanding of his work is primarily through transhumanism.

EDIT2: His predictions on what is essentially the abstraction and impedimentless acceleration of Moore's Law into infinitude don't seem to take into account actual physical limitations. CPUs are the inspiration for this form of thinking (O the marvelousness of technology!), but already they are running into the physical limitations of their medium.

Perhaps other mediums will open up opportunity, though. Quantum mechanics is a great unknown.

ray covered that in the video presentation (33:00 in). technological growth is a chain of S curves, trending up at first and trending slower at the end of a given paradigm. ray uses the example that computers used to pass information via vacuum tubes. the tubes kept getting smaller until they physically couldnt get any smaller and contain a vacuum. then that prompted the adoption of transistors and computing went to another level. so we're on the tail end of the current hardware paradigm, which is why the growth factor is leveling off. ray believes the next paradigm is likely some kind of three dimensional hardware that will build off of and enhance our understanding of biology.
