I did manage to get one mammoth alone after dying a few times...mammoth tusk wooo.

Notice the mammoth skull map icon? That's a giant's mammoth herd camp. They're
extremely useful for white enchanting: Giants have Greater souls, Mammoths have
Grand souls. Farm them for great justice.

Alteration, despite being super lame and boring up to Expert, is amazing once it gets to Master. Coming to one-shot me, eh? With a wave of my hand, Armor Capped. Another wave, and you're paralyzed. Granted, those two spells are pretty much all that there is in Alteration other than loltransmute, but so good.

Aw, there's more to Alteration than that. Equilibrium, Telekinesis, Candelight and detection spells are all good for pure mages.

Anyone master Enchanting yet? Getting Enchanter (5), Insightful Enchanter, and Extra Effect is killer. I enchanted three sets of circlets, rings, amulets, and clothes so that each set reduced my casting cost in two different schools to zero. I maxed out Illusion in about twenty minutes because of this, and was dualcasting Incinerate like they were Firebolts.

Addicted. I've probably logged 60 hours of gameplay and I haven't even done the Jurgen Windcaller main quest yet. There's just so much to do. After wandering around and doing a ton of random quests, I've found my 'quest interests' for the character I'm playing (No longer interested in small side quests): Companions Questline (finished, i started it, wasn't sure, then ran into the lycanthropy part of the storyline and was hooked), Thieves Guild (good storyline, good way to get extra gold), Dark Brotherhood (just starting, like the vibe already), Dragon Priests (not seriously hunting them, but I've run into three exploring (Krosis, Rhogot, Volsung)), Daedric storylines (Best morally grey quests in this game, since the Daedra princes are bad news bears, just gotta do kinda messed up shit - cannabalism, beating a man to death (twice), betraying a man who's turned a new leaf and killing him, etc.). The Daedric artifacts are neat too, so far I have Dawnbreaker, Mace of Molag Bal, Wabbajack, Spellbreaker, and Staff of Corruption.

Also, whoever complained about not getting a lot of gold - what?! It's everywhere, and I don't even steal that much. The hardest part is selling shit to merchants (just got the speech perk so i can sell anything to anyone, so that's good). Just gotta loot the shit outta dungeons, and optimize item's weight v. value (jewelry is great in this respect). The hardest thing regarding gold was saving up 25k to buy the house in Solitude, then another 10k to fully decorate it.

i'm still playing ~20 hours a week myself with no end in sight e_e

only using one character? i've been making new characters for each major quest line. the last one was a bosmer thief with alchemy to make poison for my arrows. took me a long time to do enough radiant quests to become the grandmaster of the thieves guild, but by the time it was over i was a pimp. thought about going ahead with the brotherhood quest since they and thieves overlap in most-used skills.

made a new character recently: redguard with one-handed, blocking, destruction, restoration, light armor and lockpicking. got perks for dual wielding, too, so i can do a lot of switching during battle to suit my situation. finally used a torch to bash someone in the face and i was amused to see it set them on fire. i haven't leveled my magic yet and my equipment (mostly just exquisite leather) isn't cutting it anymore against the silver hand, and i definitely can't fight wispmothers alone much less dragons. it's a good thing he's great at running away i guess. ;[

Wispmothers are annoying as hell to kill indeed. Did have one fun time with one though. I was like, level 3 exploring the northern reaches when I found somes whisps for the first time. Blew a couple of them up, whatever, and all of a sudden these ice spikes almost one-shot me. Insert longest period of dodging spikes while firing back with my very low mana regen and weak spells ever.

Apparently I'd robbed someone, because during this the three thugs came to "teach me a lesson" I spent the next ten minutes running them into ice spikes while dodging them myself and not getting killed by their swords. Took a retarded amount of time, but I was finally the last one standing and it was epic.

you crazy kids and your crazy mods.

finally reached the tipping point with my Spellsword. this is my first character that's used blocking and it's great. power-bashing can still activate finishing blows with your weapon, and i can do enough damage to kill with my shield anyway.

the only issue seems to be that the Shield Charge ability can't be done with a weapon instead of a shield. lame.

I regret buying this game so soon after release. Didn't play it enough, just didn't tickle my fancy as much as I thought it might :|

Got this game through Jarka's Best Buy employee benefits.

Which was awesome, since she never finished it, and I beat it in about 10 days. It has since been on the shelf (or metaphorical shelf since this was an electronic copy).

Yeah, dunno what it is but this game def had less of a draw for me than the previous two. Good game, but not one I've picked up since the initial month or two post-launch.

If anybody else is playing on ps3, April's patch 1.5 introduced a bug that freezes the game whenever the camera goes below water. To fix, just go into Game Data Utility and delete your Skyrim files (both game and patch files). Don't touch the Save Data Utility because those are your character files. On the next start up you'll have to reinstall Game Data and the patch, then the game should work fine.

My latest character Vladimir the Imperial Spellsword is in the early 40's already as I eagerly await Dawnguard. Of course, PS3 is going to get the content a month(s?) after it goes online for Xbox but who's counting? Certainly not me. On an unrelated note, now that the Xbox is getting a browser I'm going to get an Xbox, put the PS3 away and use it only for exclusive Sony content thereafter.

At any rate, might start a vampire-hunter character since Vlad is going to be a vampire. Plus, I wasted two of Vlad's perk points on Light Armor but then completely switched to Heavy Armor after joining the Blades. (most Blades pieces are better than Ebony but you can get it when Dwarven is the best random drop, everything was so much easier)

Vlad is a heavily modified version of the spellsword archetype; normal SS take one-handed, destruction, light armor and illusion, but I traded out illusion for restoration and light armor for heavy armor, added blocking for deadly bash and smithing for arcane blacksmith, plus I only upgraded basic perks to free up points for enchanting mastery. Altogether the build takes 38 perks. Enchanted gear brought the cost of spells down, raised weapon damage and armor protection, plus magic resistance, and a set of fortify smithing gear + smithing potion let me temper the Blades armor up to legendary (the only way it can be done).

Body: fortify destruction, fortify restoration
Head: fortify destruction, fortify restoration
Hands: fortify one-handed, fortify stamina regen
Feet: fortify one-handed, fortify heavy armor
Ring: fortify destruction, fortify magic resistance
Neck: fortify destruction, fortify magic resistance

Got pretty close to 600 Armor Rating even without maxing the armor skill, most of the armor perks, or a shield. Zero-mana spells and having a sword that absorbs 1 stamina per hit is great; I have unlimited casting and unlimited power attacks. Thinking about trading out stamina regen for another armor buff, no point in speeding up the regen since the sword takes care of it.

After beating Alduin and a few dozen dragon-hunting radiant quests from the Blades, doing the mage guild quest on Adept difficulty was a cakewalk. I'm doing the Conjuror Ritual Spell quest now so I can raise a permanent zombie, then it's time to up the difficulty to Expert and join the Empire for the war. I don't believe that I can raise Ulfrick from the dead, but I hope that I'm wrong. ;O
