What would you roleplay?

You guys considered everything to hell, we all did, but ultimately someone has to decides what's gonna be done, and that has to be the people at the very top. That's why we have leaders. Chubbs has this thing of talking about stuff that's gonna happen, but it never really gets to that point. Like I said, I don't blame the admins at all because shit, they have other stuff they want to do. But saying that "it's not a staff problem" is ... rather silly.

There are problems with every facet of the Chubbs member base right now. That includes staff, non-staff, OOC-accounts, and anything else I might have missed.

Everyone seems to agree about that and yet it's still being argued over.

Hows about we stop picketing Wall Street just because we have a problem and start figuring out how we can fix it? What do you guys think can be done to solve these issues mentioned and help Chubbs move forward?

This doesn't mean sit here and be like:
- Staff be more pro-active
- Staff be more available

Yes I do believe that we should voice our honest opinions but at the same time try to not be biased with them. It really seems like everyone is pretty much on the same page right now. I think it's time to take the next step...

My opinion is very unhelpful. I love to just float along with wherever the Chubbs river of rage and apathy leads me. The only reason I'm not writing right now is that John Doe is stuck in Black Ops and nobody will play me in League, and I don't want to create an alt character.

Whatever you guys decide to do, I'll follow it as far as you guys can travel.

I don't know about you guys but back in the day being able to look through a list and plan to do a quest was awesome. Sure the job idea is cool but the fact that the ides were created from someone else, maybe the general themes were the same but the story shells were limitless. I know they were brought back but no one seems to pay much attention to them. I suggest appointing 2-4 ACTIVE moderators who will focus mainly on maintaining and updates this portion of the the site. No, not put all the responsibility of creating them on those members but make that their primary duty, then they could be responsible for updates in the monetary field. Additional responsibilities such as approving/denying accounts is up to you guys.

To put it simply Vad shouldn't be basically doing everything in my opinion. If you take a look at the roster, both active and inactive you'll see a good majority of them were posted by Vad and were last edited by him. This isn't to say he does it all, but we've all seen the effort he's put into this RPG just like any other staffer and I think it would be wise to appoint someone else to help him with these things. Not to say he doesn't do a great job, its just one human can only do so much. SM's should be responsible for XP transactions, account activation/deletion and name changes. The other things should be an option not added to the list.

=Admins=
We know you guys are busy but I'm sure at least one of of you could make an effort to advertise more in an effort to gain more members. People want more activity, people want more readers. This is the way to go. New blood won't have any excuses.

We are the core of this site. We are the reason this content exists and we have all contributed to both the success and failures of this site. We should get back in the water. Why not start that story line you were afraid to follow? Fight that fat lady who fired you from your last job. We've all got creative minds and varied approaches, lets get the juices flowing again.

Remember when the reset first happened and everyone was reading each others posts. People I didn't even talk to were upset I switched from Daneos and I didn't even know people were following him. Where'd that spark go? The site's the same, the people are roughly. Iykos got the right idea, why not do the C&C threads again? Help eachother and the site flourish.

--------
Other than that I got love for you staff and the community as a whole. I'm not trynna "Backseat Mod" or tell you guys how to run your site. These are just suggestions I wanted to put up since nobody else really has.

I put a fair bit of content into the quests, and I think I've seen five people ask to do one, and I think myself and someone else are the only ones who've completed one. That really doesn't give much incentive to create more just so it sits there and gets ignored. This was especially surprising since everyone hated the idea of Jobs and wanted Quests back, but when they get what they want, nothing happens.

???

EDIT: Actually I find that statement very irritating. We did exactly what the community asked and they turned their noses up at it. I can't see how that is in any way a problem caused by a lack of staff action.

Dude, I'm not accusing staff of anything. That post was my effort to focus responsibilities to make it easier on each role. I think it's awesome that quests are back but honestly didn't even realize they were there until this thread was made. If there was a problem there with anything I would imagine the focus would be with the updating issue again. The last post even in the forum is an update question that was never answered.[Again, not making accusations, just pointing out.] Besides that I wouldn't change a thing though.

When there is work for Staff to do, we periodically (though nowhere near often enough) assess our performance and reorganize accordingly. Right now, there is no work to do.

There likely will be in the near future, though, with Chubbs-as-hub and the debut of some of the side-RPGs that have been in development.

I'll just put it out there: in the last year, I ran a saga, a tournament and a brand-new game mechanic (that is now infamous, as it didn't provide enough closure). I had to twist people's fucking arms to participate in the tournament, and the saga and the league was a huge amount of work for an amount of activity that rapidly tapered off.

As far as I'm concerned, anyone who's complaining about Staff inactivity who didn't actively participate in the saga, tournament or league hasn't got a leg to stand on, and that's most of you.

I do what I do because I was given the opportunity back in 2009. I had offered my help in the past. I took my chance to give back to Chubbs and do what I enjoy most. Helping people. The basic fact is that when life was troubling some of our staff in 2010 and 2011 I happened to be in the perfect position where I could devote most of my time to the site and updating. I was in college and unemployed. So I started doing more of the day to day operations while keeping a life line to the admins if I needed them. When I'm not in a Bi Polar rage I enjoy my time here as staff.

Just wanted to throw my view in there.

This coming from someone who didn't participate in the saga or league.

I never made a promise to participate in either of those, so I'm not entirely sure what you're getting at.

Yes it does tend to happen that way but it also takes patience. Our persistence helped motivate the restructuring that took place to mold chubbs as it is currently and staff is already talking about implementing something even newer. I think that people just need to try and put their personal feelings aside. Sure it's personal and we want to share our opinions but some of the comments from both sides are just repetitive and arent really helping us move forward.

When was the last time a large-scale discussion like this led to a general consensus?

Well there was that thing back in late 2010 which lead to this. There was also this thing back in July. All were very constructive discussions. Two of those are still on the first page of RPG Discussion.

Like I said, not trying to bash the admins for not having brought it about because people have lives. But Jon, saying the staff have done everything on their end is ... well I don't know if you've just forgotten these threads, or whether you think there needs to be a 100% consensus before staff can do anything. You're never going to get a 100% consensus. That's why we have presidents and prime ministers and admins, so ultimately after everyone has made their opinions clear they can say "aight guys this is what i'm gonna do".

I mean seriously, after those threads up top I am absolutely mind-boggled that you can make threads like this and want people to reach a consensus ... again. Spoiler alert: we already did that, nothing happened.

The first doesn't approach consensus. The second involved something that was prohibitively difficult to implement, programmatically.

Some things did come out of that first link, though (community grading, particularly).

This is the issue with paraphrasing someone you're arguing against: there's a good chance you'll get what they wrote dead wrong. I never said 'staff have done everything on their end.' My argument is that the impetus is not on us. People aren't writing, even when we introduce brand new, sweeping game mechanics.

I wrote 'Just curious' as the body of that topic because I was just curious. Deriving some sort of intent from that topic is a mistake.
