Tyr's questions
#1
So I am really interested in the universe and Anyria in general, but I've had an idea for a specifically non-magic using character for some time now, but what with regional crystals having such an impact on each region, would it even be possible to have someone living in Anyria not directly influenced by magic?

The short answer is "no."

Like I said in the chatbox, though, it's definitely possible to RP your character not directly casting spells and such. A "Batman" style character is definitely possible. If I wanted to incorporate the "Region" crystal into a character like that I would RP it as him having an affinity for fire (for example) crystals and using that affinity to hunt down and use tools/weapons with those crystals already in them. He's not casting or using the spells that way, but finding ways to keep the playing field level with more traditional mages.

Thinking about it, though, there's no reason you couldn't just... not buy spells or crystals or anything.

You wouldn't be able to compete with mages when it comes to combat, but... you could still just RP a dude... being a dude.

Yeah, I'll think over it. It conflicts with the character idea to be "beneath" the magic users and without some serious business connections I doubt it'd be possible to be equal in any with das magic users that way. 'tis cool tho, I'll either think of something new or just pass and observe.

That's cool.

Why not specialize in Tek? The idea behind that faction is that they are secular, they see the crystals as a normal commodity like coal or iron, where as the other factions apply mysticism and spiritualism to the crystals.

Alright I'll consider my options in that regard and what with this whole train of questions thread becoming a thing, if a mod could change the thread title to something appropriately Tyr-ish as I continue asking questions.

So, after having done a few action-y characters, I'd like to make a story driven one and you know what makes for the best "cool story, bro"? Politics. No, really! I'd like to make a politically engaged character with some sort of ulterior motive I haven't nailed down completely yet, but considering there's magical forces in the world I'd imagine there'd be some rules to ensure that public speakers don't use Song to sway the crowd.

I completely understand if you guys haven't thought of this yet, but I want to be a corrupt politician (using his powers actively and attempt to avoid being caught breaking these rules) so I was wondering if I either could get permission to engineer something up or if one of higher authority could make something up. I'd appreciate it a lot!

With the introduction of non-elemental moves, you could work something out with a character that focuses entirely on physical powers.

Premature bump, but I'm really eager on starting this politician bloke.

Yeah, I can see something like that working. I definitely have some of my own storylines in mind that involve some political intrigue, if you will.
