My plan was to get into it tonight. I have the next three days off and have been real excited to sink my teeth into the multiplayer.

Are we talking about the demo or do you guys have a more elaborate version of multiplayer than us Europeans? I thought the exact opposite. The multiplayer in the demo I found tedious and the same motions over and over again. The powers held little to no value as I tried different things and it was simple wave after wave enemy with some randomly thrown in objectives that you never felt like doing because you were totally surrounded by enemies.

Do note I only played it with like 1-2 people at a time, so maybe being more makes it funnier? I don't know.

First game, I was thinking along the same lines as Tyr. At its core, it's just a horde mode, and it'll probably get boring eventually, but ...

Inbetween matches: "dunno what this is, but guess I'll throw a point into 'nova'", and swap out my shitty semi-auto machine pistol for a good pistol. Then it starts to come together. They gave the vanguard a leaping biotic ground punch that I have to expend my shields to use? And a biotic rasengan? OH YES. This game just became Mass Effect 3: Punch Everybody.

Now if only they had a Krogan Vanguard class. I mean seriously? Wrex was a vanguard. You have a Krogan Engineer/Biotic cross, but no Combat/Biotic? Serious sadface.

Hopefully I'll find the other classes fun too, but being a kamikazi melee dude has always been my favourite niche, and they pulled it off here much better than in the previous two games. While everyone else was hiding behind cover using piddling biotic attacks, I was charging around punching dudes to death. It was very fun.

It seems like a waste with all of the RPG elements to leave it at just a horde mode though, because eventually it will get boring. Seems like this may be a beta for future Mass Effect multiplayer games - if that's the case, I'm sold. Otherwise, WTB DLC.

I don't know, maybe it's because of the way I like Mass Effect for pretty much every other element but the combat. I find the combat uninspiring and the fact that the newly introduced melee system (that I was really psyched for) was just a heavy attack, which to their credit does change from class to class but this also carries a very quickly fading entertainment value. The fact that I also have to grind equipment (and for some reason the same class 6 times) by packages is also really annoying.

I don't know, it just seemed like something that would lose its' entertainment value really really quickly, which it did with me and my friends.

Yeah it probably will, but for a couple of hours it's going to be SO AWESOME. I'm hoping that more maps will extend that feeling, because so far I've been having a blast just on the one.

There are already multiple maps, you've probably just been unlucky and randomed the same map over and over again. For a loss in the XP, you can pick your own map.

Yeah, mass effect combat is pretty damn lackluster. It's a shame, really.

I don't like 1 and I don't like 2. Storyline is pretty sick though

If life gives you lemons, hand them to me!
I've got a great recipe for lemon meringue pie.

it starts slowly, but once you get a full four man squad who knows what they're doing it quickly descends into madness. wonderful, beautiful madness.

i went human soldier. i've got him equipped with the generic rifle (nothing else) and an attachment that gives it +accuracy.

skills: +HP/Shields, shield regen, dmg reduction/output. also, equipment is huge in this game. they only last for one mission each, but they are worth their weight in gold.

the result: concussion shot has a 1.5 second cooldown, grenades deal nearly 1000 damage, and the third Power temporarily gives extra damage reduction/output while also letting me shoot/reload twice as fast. i walk into mobs like the terminator. only drawback is that i have to grab ammo if a wave gets brutal (can only carry 274 rounds, but go through +1000 in one wave on Gold difficulty)

i bought mw3 full price at retail to support the developer and i figured i'd get my money's worth from a great title. after a weekend of fraggin out i started playing me3 multiplayer demo and havent looked back since...

anyway, i've become partial to the soldier, engineer and sentinal classes. they're pretty much the same things from me2.

my engineer plays support with assault rifle, fireball spell and combat drone. he's light on hp, but the drone has 1100 shields and shoots missiles that deal 300+ dmg.

sentinel uses bolt action sniper rifle and mostly the throw spell. upgraded throw to 1.5 sec cooldown, deal slash damage, and its strong enough to stagger an atlas in two casts. if anything gets close, they are blasted with throw and shot before they can get back up.

at first i thought that the atlas and phantoms were the worst enemies, but engineers scare me now. being ambushed by a turret has gotten me killed more often than anything else.

Haven't played a ton, but that was mostly because my PS3 was being dumb about staying connected. Ended up downloading it for PC (which is what I'll be buying it for, anyway) so the connection problem will go away.

Only played the Sentinel, which was my favorite class from ME2. Kept screwing up with the Tech Armor, though, and activating it as my shields dropped. In ME2 that would refill your shields. In ME3 it just uses the detonation effect and ends the shield bonus (a change I like, btw, I just kept forgetting in the middle of firefights).

I like the balance between weapon loadout and cooldown reduction. A very simple, clean was of differentiating the classes who really get the most out of powers and those that are happy to just have hard-hitting weapons at their disposal.

As has already been mentioned, I can definitely see this getting old, but that's perfectly fine with me. I have no doubt the ME3 single player will be appropriately epic and this is a pretty sweet dollop of icing on that particular cake.

For that reason, I played the one hour and I'll be waiting til ME3 comes out to play any more. I don't want to be sick of the mode before I can even access most things. I don't really want to play the single player demo either, but Bioware wants to give me free items in Kingdoms of Amalur for doing so. Can't you be happy I'm buying the game =(

I really want to unlock the Asari Adept.

Stasis is sick.

i got asari adept a few hours ago :O she is pretty sweet. stasis is kinda odd, though. it's got this strange mental effect that confuses my allies when i play with random pubs. when i stasis an enemy they just stop shooting at it for no reason. kinda frustrating

but other than that it rocks. i don't have to fear phantoms when i play with her

yeah, if you buy used then it doesnt do anything for the sales numbers. they only tally initial sales. plus i forgot to preorder it like two months ago when they were running a $48 deal.

They probably just saw the name and didn't bother to read the skill to see that they can deal damage to Stasis targets now.

i thought that might be it. my first thought was wondering if stasis would let me hurt the target, but at least i tested it before writing it off. they watch me kill a stasised enemy and its like they just dont care.

it wouldnt be a huge problem but my asari carries a pistol to minimize cooldown (justicar training specializes in -wgt for pistols). i cant kill everything i stasis with that.

not all the pubs are bad tho. i paired up with a krogan soldier once and we beat a bronze match together.

I'm frickin' super impressed by this game. It's fucking awesome how much content there is just for the demo.
