Meh, don't feel like rehashing this thing again. lol

Because you're the only one that thinks he's an overhyped champion. He does what he does very well and only has to be played decently to have a significant impact on the game.

On this forum maybe. He is a very good assassin, and it's very fun to play him IF you can get through laning phase without being completely decimated.

Well... yeah. I'm not going to word things in consideration of everyone who's ever played League of Legends and posted or said something about a given character in any venue.

I wasn't trying to rally random people to help my argument. In that regard, 90% of the players ban Kass, so I automatically lose. I've never tried to discount Kassadin for what he does or how he is played, just like you can't discount the fact that Kassadin has problems farming in lane against just about any one.

I'm not arguing that Kassadin is shit tier and should never be played, but he's by no means broken or deserving of an insta-ban.

Edit: And unlike Akali, when Kassadin doesn't have farm he doesn't do damage.
Reply
I don't think it's power level or broken-ness that causes the Kassadin bans. He's just harder to play around. If Akali is coming at you, you know what's about to happen. You can even do something like drop a pink ward. Kass is just there and then he's just not.

It's like playing around Karthus ult or Shen ult. It's not always going to happen. The best players in the world get caught by that stuff and Kass is in a very similar place. Shaco got tons and tons of bans for the same reason. Not because he's particularly over-powered, but because it's easy to just ban him than hope your teammates know how to play around him correctly.

It doesn't take much more than Kass hitting 6 to go bottom and get that lane a double kill.

Quote:I wasn't trying to rally random people to help my argument.

I know you weren't, there just wasn't any point in bringing that up. That's what I was saying, unless you genuinely think I don't know there are people who feel the same way you do about Kass. I don't think you do, though. I could say "well way more people agree with my side," but that's meaningless.

The point is to consider the strengths and flaws of a champion's design, not try to determine who is "right" about him based on... what? The opinions of random people? Random people are generally idiots.

A possible kill or two for a 2 doran ring Kassadin for the risk of losing a tower if I'm... say Mordekaiser. I'd take that trade any time. But that's assuming my bot lane wards and knows how to play. Not that risky in an arranged 5 situation.

Also, I do know that plenty of people have the same opinion as me. In fact, I picked it up from someone that was teaching me about countering Kassadin etc, and after playing against COUNTLESS Kassadins, and having played Kassadin multiple times whenever he's free. It helped build my opinion about this.

This whole time, every single post I've made were focused on his strengths and flaws. Because the current meta-game is about snowballing and early lane win, his inability to farm bumps him from being a top tier champion. There's nothing opinionated about this, and I'm not saying this after having one good game against a Kassadin. It's factual. My opinion is focused more about how he's an insta-ban and is undeserving of his hype.

If you actually do understand his strengths, then you should understand why he's banned. Assuming he has any idea how to play the champion, it's not a champion countered by one person. The entire team has to play appropriately (like with a Shaco or a Twitch or anyone like that) and that just rarely happens.

Talking about Arranged 5s doesn't mean a whole lot because bans there are about what counters your comp. He's a champ that coordination beats. Same thing with Shaco, same thing when jungle Eve was a thing, same thing with anyone who has a global ult.

With a FotM like Kass, your choices are to hope your teammates know how to/can deal with him or just use a ban. That's usually a very easy choice.

Thing about Kassadin is, you don't need team coordination to completely fuck him over. If you pick to counter him (which is basic gameplay in even solo queue) he won't be able to have that free reign to gank. If I have anyone with any sort of pushing power and have the creep wave pushed up to his tower the whole time and have my shit warded accordingly to make sure their jungler ganks won't get to me.

Kass doesn't have slightly decent wave clear until like... Level 11 and a needlessly large rod. Whereas a level 3 Morde, or a level 5 Cass can push the wave up easily. Aside from the fact that you can't walk away to gank bot when your lane is pushed up, even if he does try to do so he would be risking losing tower, or losing a good wave of around 7-12 minions. That in itself is almost 200-300 gold, as much as you'd get from a champion kill. Also if I did have the lane pushed up like that, I could easily go off and gank any lane I so please because Kassadin doesn't have any lane control when you have his wave pushed up to his tower.

There are many things you can do by yourself to completely shut down Kassadin's early game, and subsequently his mid and late game. I mean, unless your teammates go and get caught by him 4-5 times then he becomes a slightly bigger threat. Sure he's scary in team fights if you don't know where he is and if he's good he'll pick his spots, but if you keep him underfarmed in lane he won't do much damage in a team fight, and every time he casts he exposes himself to get targeted. He's a hard champion to play and there are many things you can do by yourself to shut him down.

I'm saying all of this assuming my team knows anything, which in a solo queue regard you're right. He may be deserving of a ban (but this is also assuming enemy team knows how to play him solidly). I understand where you're coming from, in solo queue he's definitely up there because teams don't coordinate and are frankly stupid most of the time. But you're looking at this too intelligently, at least 70% of the people that ban him do it because they think he's an utterly broken champion that snowballs to no end (which he does). And I guess that's what I've been arguing against the whole time.

So stuff like insta-ban-Kassadin happen not because the individual people doing it are intelligent. I 100% agree with you that it's just that's "just what you do." People mimic what they see. What they see, though, is what I'm talking to. They see streams or games where Kass gets banned for the exact reason mentioned. Even in high Elo (still talking solo-queue) there are idiots and it's way easier to ban around idiots than it is to comp and play around a champion.

So, yeah, people just do without thinking about why it gets done. Or they just assume it's because "omg too stronk" and whine about it. Kass will fade back into mediocrity as he becomes banned less frequently and people figure out how to play against him on their own (regardless of what lane they're in).

One thing someone said in a post I read on the LoL forums a while back sums up my thoughts on Riot balance. Paraphrased, he said that mobility is the most overpowered aspect of the truly monstrously strong champions, and I agree.

I hate passive Tryndameres, who only last hit when both enemy champions are out of lane. Even worse when the same Tryndamere builds only attack speed for 30 minutes.

On thaat point I STILL HATE TRYNDAMERES!

Why? They all have the same attitude. They expect to trollstomp the game from beginning. If they dont, they start bitching and trolling.

Me, even as Nasus with a decent Q and great survivuralbility, can do so much. And I know you guys thinkI dont do much but i can hold off and half a whole teams life force alone in some games.

I found a Tryndamere in a game today on my side and he bitched so much after a lane lost their lane and he cast a surrender vote at 20. I cwas one of the 2 that pressed no.

Thing is... he sold ALL his items and started feeding pretty much after words and even said he was....

Pissed me off... I mean really. I dont care about bitching and blaming though I wanna say STFU!!!

Well there were a few turning points that he could have been apart of and turned the game asily with me alone...

Tryndameres are usually the sterotype they belong in.... Just like Shacos...

You guys really need to manage your competitive mode and your fun mode better. It leaves members feeling like shit when you're playing for absolute dominance and someone else is playing to have a good time for some laughs.

You're watching competitive streams and it's carrying over into how you react to friends playing with you.

#1 reason I stopped playing was because I didn't feel like enabling my competitive mode so people stopped playing with me. I wanted to play with certain people, but they would never let me out of lack of skill.

Because yeah I only play this game for fun unless I'm doing ranked.

Unrealistic expectations, and miscommunication.

I think that if people want to play for fun, then we need to make a clear distinction of when we're playing for fun and when we're "try harding". I think the expectation should be if we're going to tryhard we play Normal Drafts, and if we want to just play and have fun it should be blind pick.

The other thing is, if you decided to play a normal draft, you need to be prepared to be bitched at and be expected to play at your A-Game and not get upset about it. And if you decide to play Blind Pick, then you don't get to moan about support not warding, someone picking eve, or someone feeding hard.
