REVOLUTION!(system change thread)

Mza Wrote:Are you saying someone on an MMORPG who plays 12 hrs shouldn't be as strong as a person who plays maybe 3 hours a day just because they don't strategize or utilize their powers and role? The bottom line is the time and effort was put in and they should be rewarded.

Damien, come on bro...

You know as well as I do that in EVERY MMO, or game where you lvl up for that matter, you need more exp than you did the previous lvl in order to continue lvling up..

The idea for a game like this is that it would allow for new members to catch up easier because more powerful members have a harder time gaining CA. This is in every game with exp, just not ours...

Edit: This sounds alot like whats going on right now with the wealthy and the poor... How the 2% pays the same taxes as the rest of us...lol!

As has been said before, barely anyone uses CA for anything, so who cares?

-high fives maruset-

They're just eye candy. Its not even like there's a stat-based system.

"Oh I punched 3 times, -2 AP, ur turn bro.

700 attack - 8 bajillion hp

Opponent takes 700 dmg."

"Bloks all ur punchez, counter shuryuken, -15 AP. Second round KO."

5 billion attack - 3 million hp

That's what I meant that it was just an excuse. I'll admit I enjoy the sight and do like to watch it grow but it's not like that'll keep me from challenging Kaden or someone to a fight. It's really not that serious anyway. Besides CA difference is the least of chubbs problems.

I am so sick of people saying ot doesn't matter. It does. Yes its about writting, however, HOW you write is determined by your trait, your stat percentages, AND your CA. this is a dbz site and I could punch someone causing them to fly back 30 yards, however my character could NOT do that to Victoria. Why? Because of our difference in CA. If you have a problem with CA, then you have a problem with the king of the mountain mentality, at which I have no idea why you are roleplaying in a war/fighting/superpowered game. Basically you are UN-American, because thats what capitolism is. Competition is the driving factor to most anything that has success. If you don't wanna compete and size eachother up, why are you here? Chubbs has always been a game, a competition. Why change? There are plenty of places in which you cant level up a character and compete. I love the limits placed by the competition. It makes you have to work if you want to develope your character. Very American. I dig.

This post is more emotional than logical, but I'm sick of the constant shit that is thrown at those of us who enjoy the game aspect of this place. I don't write anywhere else and only write here because its the best GAME community. The fact that its story based is awesome because of the freedom you have, but without the game, IE: stats and power levels I would never have joined 6 years ago.

Your trait should lead to your characters IC personality which should effect how you write. You become more attached to a character you develop emotionally and physically because you actually care about story than if you were to watch a stat grow. For example: I've personified Vad as a badass for the past 3 years. He's the veteran soldier and ex assassin for hire. He's grown to show more emotion and help his friends and allies. The storyline arc with Sage in '09 changed him a lot. He's had the best combat training anyone could ever hope to achieve. He has a loving wife who also compliments him as a character and has a personality completely separate of his. I've lagged behind the major players since early 2009, but that doesn't stop Vad from being who he is. That doesn't stop him from thinking he could gut a character as powerful as Victoria. Because he's defiant. He doesn't give a fuck. He knows he's an artist on the battlefield.

You want competition and stats, but don't put everything on it's shoulders.

Fighting to the bitter end is an advantage when your opponent does not wish to perish.

Vad, I'm not, homie. Like a said, traits, stat percentages, CA all determine how you should write your character. I'm not even saying that CA should be the determining factor, however, people who say, "Oh, its just eye candy" piss me off. It is essential in determining how your character measures up to another player IC. We all know that writting and effort is the main factor for an outcome, but if I wrote detailing that I was pwning Victoria that would be ridiculously, she has put in the time and deserves to have power IC. I could defeat her, however, it should be an upset and the writting should be written as so. CA matters, fuck you if you say it doesn't. Go find some vampire site to write on, those noobs don't track the effort you've put into you character.

Btw, I one of the weakest here in terms of IC. If Im not bitching, why are you?

She's obviously not gunna be at her max PL ALL the time. You could still have a fighting chance the same way Goku would spar with Gohan and Piccolo while only maintaining his saiyan form. Sure if she decided to power up and rip your eyes out she could, doesn't mean she automatically will though. Not even the Hulk is full strength all the time, that's why its possible to get him knocked down and/or sedated.

Although there are gaps there are relatively realistic ways to approach an opponent like that. You're just looking at it from a black and white point of view.

Edit: So yes, you could still punch her and send her 30 feet. Just don't expect her to have a broken jaw or get knocked out.

This has really been discussed to death. There are various issues with ANY implementation, and the more complex the implementation, the more subtleties (large and small) crop up.

If you don't like the current stat systems, design your own and make a corresponding Node (connected to the Chubbs Hub). If the populace likes it, they'll write and the node will flourish. If they don't, they won't and it won't.

I lol'd. I love it when people use this word, such a good defense in any argument. Maybe it's because I read too much into this whole "un-American" "American" bs, but it portrays you as extremely arrogant. It's also not something that you couldn't have replaced with any other word. Right off the bat I want to argue against your point.

Quote:This post is more emotional than logical

If you are not being logical, then there's really no point in bringing something up like this. You basically just acknowledged that you were being unreasonable and illogical. So like, wtf? Is everyone else supposed to treat what you've said seriously?

I lol'd at your post, but only cause because you used lol in past tense. <3
How is using my own personal frame of reference arrogant? I am American, it's what I know most? You lost me.

Vad, the last bit wasn't directed at you. More of a 'In general'

It's just typical American arrogance. Like I said, maybe I read too much into these kind of comments. When you say something like, "It makes you have to work if you want to develope your character. Very American. I dig." Almost sounds as if Americans have exclusive rights to working hard, or are the only people who do? Meh. I realize most of Chubbs is American and may or may not see this as a type of arrogance, but I thought it was.
#55
There are a shitton of non-americans on chubbs.

I have no opinion on whatever you two are talking about though. I've only read tiny snippets and I haven't seen anything that would compell me to read the rest. Also, off topic as hell.
#56
Everyone hates America until they need us. Tis how it goes. I'm in the same boat as Undrask. Didn't really read. Replied to him.

Could someone please just close this before it goes further down the toilet? Now people are just arguing to argue. Like Meer said, the topic has been argued to death. Unless you put in the time to develop a formula/node then you really aren't contributing anything useful. If you wanna debate about citizenship and other shit take it to AIM or PM's or something. This thread got it's point across already.
