Getting into Mal Nova's house had been easy for Sophia. Now she stood above the defenseless namekian, knife raised, ready to gamble everything.
Then, a flash of light. Standing there in the room was a phone box, and from it exited a man with black hair. "I'm the Doctor 17, and I'm here to stop you."
Mal gasped awake, and leapt away from Sophia. Foiled, the woman ran for the door, leaving the startled Namekian to turn to his saviour.
"I really appreciate you coming here."
"No problem," smiled the doctor.
"Yeah, I'd wondered why you weren't at your house tonight." Mal Nova clicked his fingers, and from the shadows emerged two figures. Seventeen recognised them as Tyr and Keiko Brykein. He couldn't help but laugh as they closed in.
Sophia fled the town, never to return. Kaden and King B never woke up.

1. Waffuru - Townie
2. Tyr - Mafia
3. King B - Townie
4. John Doe - Townie
5. Kaden - Townie
6. Anzekay - Townie
7. Android 17 - Doctor
8. Mal Nova - Mafia
9. Ashe - Sheriff
10. Keiko Brykein - Mafia
11. Sophia - Vigilante
Thoughts: goddamn, town was ludicrously unlucky. TWO of the three suspects for yesterday's lynch vote for mafiosos, one of them actually had full lynch votes at one point - and neither made it to lynching.
The first PM I got last night was mafia killing 17. I thought "well, 17 can't protect himself so the town is fucked." Then I got a PM from Sophia saying kill Mal. I thought "town has a chance!" Then 17 protected Mal. I laughed.
But well played regardless, I think that was definitely Mal's game. His insane style did a good job of distracting people and making them fight am ongst thems elves despite making him a target.
While the town did have bad luck, I also think waiting until Day 3 to lynch was a VERY risky move on the town's part. A large part of the point of this game was to go back to mafia roots rather than relying on special roles to win, but despite that people chose to wait for the Sheriff to reveal some information. I therefore found it a little bit karmic that the Sheriff died revealing nothing.
There was only 1 lynch the entire game. Day 1, no lynch, that's understandable - though not necessarily the best strategic move, and wouldn't often happen in a 'pure' mafia game with no roles at all. Day 2, no lynch - that was the point at which I put my bets on mafia winning. A theme in mafia is that if you try to protect yourself, by not standing out, not pushing for lynches, etc, the town will often lose. Those people who do those things make themselves bigger targets, but also make it much more likely for the town to win. In this game, people seemed a little more hesitant, and that did not go well when we have crazy fucks like Mal on the mafia side.
A note on the mafia players - lol at Tyr and Keiko getting mafia again. I actually felt it was a really risky setup, but somehow they pulled it off. Choosing 3 mafia for 11 people was tough, but I felt with a cop, doctor and vigilante (especially vigilante) the town had enough big advantages especially considering the mafia were all 'vanilla'. In other games we've had doctors saving every night, unfortunately in this game none of the roles hit gold and two of them actually backfired. Really unlucky stuff. But that's mafia.
NEXT GAME!
And FTR, the kills on night 2 were Ashe by the mafia, John Doe by Sophia.

FUCK YOU SOPHIA!
I figured Ashe was Sheriff by the middle of the 2nd day, which was both what I was expecting (to find out who the sheriff was, I mean) and what I feared. Ashe was a definite townie by retracting his lynch vote on me (as was Kaden, and I'll get to that in a moment) so when he began questioning my motives for lynching Kaden randomly while also hinting that I was sheriff made me think Ashe was the real sheriff. I guess the Mafia either figured it out too, or was just killing the loudest person, save me.
I figured Keiko was Mafia the moment she claimed to know who the Doctor was. A townie should NEVER say who they think the doctor is unless they are specifically trying to distract the Mafia. Mal was obviously Mafia or the Vigilante, so I have no idea why the townies didn't just lynch him right away (you could say the same for me, but I had a reason for doing what I did). I was on the fence on who the third mafia was, though my top three were Sophia, King B, and Tyr, in no particular order and for basically the same reasons.
As for what I was doing. Basically, it was throwing myself on the fire in order for the townies (Ashe and Kaden were my only two sure things, with Anzekay as a very close third) to figure out who the true bad guys were. And the best way to do that was to be as loud as damn well possible. The best way to get information is to get people talking. My random lynch for Kaden was basically that, and it certainly got Mal and Ashe talking (and probably killed as a result, in hindsight).
My vote for Kaden had yet another reason behind it; I wanted to see who would vote for him. Kaden was most likely a townie, by my deductions, so anyone who went after him based on my nothing was very much suspect. But I probably shouldn't have put the list up or the other posts soon after that and instead just kept going on about my crazy like I didn't know what I was doing.
Good job on Mafia getting yet another win!

Killing Doe was obviously a mistake, but only because he wasn't mafia and I tore away from my initial cautious strategy. I honestly did about as much as I could to hint that I was the vigilante, especially last night, but...well, it is what it is.
There's nothing wrong with the strategy employed by a majority of the townspeople, but you have to know its limits, especially when the name of the game is manipulating other people. You also have to realize that it's not the only strategy. Tyr bandwagoned the whole time and we probably should have seen through it, but a majority of the people who jumped on random lynches were townspeople. In retrospect, the "caution vs. aggression" debate was the main theme of this game, but the people who tried to "gotcha" random lynchers muddled the whole situation. Again, nothing wrong with that tactic, but confusion is going to be a byproduct. All in all, like Rose said, we were mainly just unlucky.
Also, I don't really blame 17 for protecting Mal. Considering the circumstances, it was probably the best move to protect his role.

Spoiler, I escape.
But yea, I hoped that'd be the end of the game. I think that if you're going to have a Vigilante who can just murder people every day (instead of it being a one-bullet thing), you ought to not have 3 mafia. It kind of makes the town the underdog from the get-go.
Just my thoughts.
edit: And this whole 'lets not lynch' crap is still silly.

To think, if I was Vigilante...
I think the main thing we need to take away from this game is to always kill Mal first.

Geegee... I thought it was Kaden Mal and Tyr after Anzekay lynch vote. Damn, Keiko really got me. After reading Keiko's post I went with Kaden's rationale. :/ Sad.

What you should actually TAKE from here is... STOP THINKING INSIDE THE BOX! Not, Kill the Nova on day one. That's not fun and could wind up being a detrement to the town side.
One of my first posts to my fellow comrades was....
Quote:We dont need to all agree on everything... If you guys wana go agasint me in public do it. I'll wind up being the firt one gone so yeah try not to stick to close.
One of the most common things I saw in a few peoples arguments was how mafia 'would act". Everyone saw how fast I had no problem Lynching Keiko when they started pointing fingers at her. At the same time, had she died, 17 would have been the next target from the town because he tried to defend her Maybe Anzekay too.
Now lets discuss...
Quote:So heres what Im thinking so far. Now this is me totally guessing here.
Out of Kaden and John Doe, one of them is most likely the Vigilante or Sheriff.
Ashe and Sophia probably hold the doctor role.
Anzekay and KB most likely have the third post.
But for some reason, my gut is saying we lynch Waff tonight. He seemd to fly under the radar much more then he usually does and it makes me wonder.
Result: Waff got got... Waff is a strong quiet player on any team but people don't realize it. That and Sheriff and doctor and maybe even the vigilante would be visiting, Kaden, Doe, or even my house that night.
I didn't realize till afterwards that Doctor cant protect himself. Or Sophia or Ashe may have died that night... but for somereason Waffles stayed in my thoughts enough.
Well then came Day 2...
Quote: So I think we can get the Doe Lynch... If you guys want since the others are still going for it.... Go ahead and bandwagon it as long as it is still going that way when you guys log on.
But if someone is outed... Like say a Sheriff investigated me and outed me... be hasty to Lynch my ass lol. Dont be one of the last ones if you can help it.
We want to go after Ashe or Sophia next Night Or whats your thoughts?
See if they had to send in the killing lynch to get me... I had no problem with it. I wanted them to to sell the story. I looked back at their previous thoughts and already knew I was gonna go after Ashe.
Night Fell, Day came and when I looked I wanted to sing "I SHOT THE SHERRIFFFF and Now Im gonna find his deputy" Lmao. Ashe prolly happened to investigate me that night and had to take his info to the grave.
Well it's day 3 and Kaden is lynching the less active and I was kind of annoyed because Keiko had deicded she was going to be quiet till day 3 and because of Kaden it was about to bite her in her ass. I hopped on bandwagon to be 3rd to lynch just because.
Everyone shifted towards Anzekay so I did too.
The Final night came, and I was thinking about tagging Sophia that night, because I still couldn't shake the gut... Instead someone else lingered in my mind.... My good ol' buddy....
Quote:I'm sending this to the mafia members and to Rose so they know its been sent.
Since this guy is all about calling someone Vigilante it makes me wonder if he really is said vigilante... Either way, I dont think he'll get the Doctor.... So.....
Smite Android 17!!!!
He wasn't the vigilante.... but a doctor is JUST as good =D

Damned people thinking that since Doe is dead, Mal must be Vigilante. I think much more different then that and wouldn't have went for Doe that easy. I can't say how I would have went about it as I wasn't with the Town this game, but my own overestimated ability/skill/randomness would have got a Mafia alot faster then what you guys did >_> lol I'd have shot Keiko prolly just to go ahead and end that argument form happening anymore or something.
i can't really say cuz it wasn't the position I was in.
Hell, on day 2 I gave you a list of suspects in the random jargon i spouted and you guys overlooked it all. I pointed at Doe,myself, and Kaden. Then I said theres a chance that one of the previous mafia was mafia this game, because I've seen a slightly broken pattern of it.
Pointed to the quiet ones too...
You had your clues there put in your face but nothing was done.
I'm not sure if I should be bragging or rather annoyed.
*Walks off mumbling* Fuckers didnt even notice that I got alot quieter on day 3 SHIT.

Quote:Regarding other people... I am honestly surprised that Mal wasn't killed last night, given his past few games. ]While I don't buy that his reasoning skills are much more than a series of lucky guesses with massive confirmation bias (at this moment, its only been a few games and I do leave the possibility that this is something he's genuinely good at tactically), they have still more or less been accurate guesses, random luck or not. He's had a fairly strong presence in the two games that I ran and is a very loud poster. I have absolutely no stance (yet) and am not trying to draw votes towards him, to be clear, but I am noting that there is the possibility that he survived because of being mafia himself. I had him pegged last night as the top priority target if they were just eliminating general targets. I'm going to give his posts a fair look for now since he could be seeing good info or he could just be overcritical and over analyzing it.
Sheriff... Dead

Vigilante... Coulda got got too

At that point, Mal seemed too easy a choice. I'm serious. In the end, Mal's inexplicable behavior ended up working. I'll obviously keep that in mind for the future.

Well, I'm glad that by BS managed to convince someone, especially since Rose outed me as Mafia my first game on the Damn Second Day (still not over that). I figured that everyone thought Mal was Mafia, so why try and deny the fact that he is Mal. Anzekay "seemed" way too happy to just lynch whoever, which always seems like a Mafia Role. I voted for Anzekay because I figured if Mal did get the lynch vote, at least I pointed him out as Mafia and that wouldn't look bad on me.
Then, I completely screwed myself over and considered myself Mafia when I made my list and only listed 2 plausible Mafia members. Thank God no one pointed that out. Let's play again!

The first night I investigated Kaden, just to go ahead and get it out of the way. I did not want to have my opinions of things possibly mislead from the start if Kaden was a mafia.
My second night was almost a Mal investigation, but the way Sophia was posting, I had the feeling SOMETHING was up. I wasn't sure what though, so I investigated him and found him to be the vigilante. I re-evaluated what he'd said and that solidified a Mal Night 3 check that never happened.
In hindsight, I'm actually surprised no one suspected Mal on Night 3 after I died. He stated at one point that the position I was in on his "suspicion list" would have been Waffuru had Waff not been killed, and after I died I realized that meant he had placed us as equally needing to go, if he were mafia. I posted to at least get the consideration out for people to look in to (the post Mal quoted of mine, under his bolded part) but it didn't really seem to get much attention. I had tried to strongly hint that Kaden was a non-suspect on Day 2, but he still had a lot of fingers pointed at him, and that's largely due to one person.
I feel that Doe pretty much hurt us with his plays. He feels that he was being loud to be a target, but he was pretending to be Sheriff which caused the town to give more credibility to HIS suspicions and ignore my attempts to be subtle in clearing people (I figured I'd die before I could say much, so I wanted to have things posted for players to review after I died - instead, people kept pointing at Kaden). By pretending he was Sheriff (he kept saying "HINT HINT JUST KILL KADEN" and asking for doctor protection), I think that killed my chances of doing any kind of reveal without having a confirmed mafia. Without a mafia to lynch that day, it would be my word against Doe's and he was demanding protection, which would have the mafia simply kill me instead, in that scenario. So I didn't really like that play.

I didn't really think Anzekay was mafia. I thought there was a chance, but I didn't really think it would be him. Mostly I just wanted to enforce something I said in the last mafia game:
Kaden Wrote:I'm simply being critical of what's been said. I feel like not enough of that has been done in this phase.
This game felt like a lot of "yeah, sure, let's do that" instead of people actually thinking for themselves. Like... go back and look at what I was doing. How did that make any sense to anyone? I didn't commit to any vote other than the one that ended up losing us the game (and whether or not Anzekay died was irrelevant to the outcome of the game) and I threw suspicion at different people every day for no real reason.
