[Warhammer Online] Da big swords are fer hittin stunties!

As a shaman also...

You do realize that talent got changed so its like some upgrade to Earthbind Totem that clears snares, right? I mean, its not as good as the other, but then I don't like deep enhancement anyways.

I realize that. It's still complete bullshit. The range on Earthbind is crap, and the totem has like 5 hitpoints. Totems can't be targeted by macros anymore, but the whole totem system is still a piece of junk.

Plus, making abilities pull double-duty and then NOT doing anything to reduce the cooldown is something that they did with Shamanistic Rage and largely failed at. The only reason why more QQ wasn't made about Shammy Rage was that it had a pretty clear delineation between its PvP function and its PvE function. Except for high-end arenas where you were mana starved, SR was used for damage reduction in PvP and mana gain in PvE.

An 'upgraded Earthbind' doesn't benefit from this separation of roles. If this change went through, its two uses would be often occur independent of each other. Sure, I can use an EB to break out of being kited (momentarily), but I'm going to run out of its AOE radius VERY quickly and will not be able to put another one down for 12 seconds. As enhancement in PvP, if I'm ever lucky enough to close on an opponent, I found myself rotating between Frost Shock and Earthbind just to have a hope of keeping squishies within range of my damage. I can't just 'Frost Shock Frost Shock Frost Shock' because my spell interrupt shares its cooldown, and interrupting is key to my survival and my role in combat.

Let's not even get started about how easy the totem is to one-shot.

But you know, we shouldn't even be discussing the viability of Earthbind Totem as the solution, because the justification for removing Spectral Transformation was a load of shit anyways. Not only that, but without Spectral Transformation, our Spirit Wolves are no longer immune to snares/roots.

Lol gg?

Well, I agree its stupid to do that. Spirit wolves were not immune before though, that was part of the Spectral ability to do that, so this same ability does the same thing there. However, Koraa doesn't seem to understand why its so bad on a totem.

Earthbind has a fairly long cooldown, so dropping that just to have some stupid rogue proc another crippling poison set on you from a shiv means you just wasted your time. You can't just redo it again like you can with poison cleansing. I guess hamstring is a better example there. Honestly, this should have been added to Tremor Totem, the anti-cc totem. Its spammable, and is already bad on its own but its THE earth totem an Enhance wants out.

I've been wanting into beta JUST to suggest that Earthbind Totem and Tremor Totem get combined like SoE and GoA did. It makes complete sense, and solves a lot of problems.

But yeah, Enhance is going to stay fully kiteable, and the classes that can't kite them will just completely be dominated by a windfury proc. There is no middle ground (just like locks have no middle ground. You either control the entire fight and win by a landslide, or you die with no chance to fight back. No back and forth game.) I hate that.

I'm pumped to try the Level Sync in FFXI, but my bf needs to renew his account. I have a level 75 and a 60 on FFXI, so you can imagine I've seen a lot and this is really exciting for me. I've heard it's really good, and people are coming back to play and try it.

It makes it so more parties can be made in lower levels, and the higher level guys can actually do something other than war parties or monk parties or mana burn parties.

I doubt I'll play WAR, I like WoW way too much, and might dabble in FFXI again.

The level sync thing in FFXI vaguely interests me, but it's, like, about a year late in coming.

Also, Corsair nerfs annoyed the crap out of me. Why do I keep playing underpowered classes that get nerfed?

Edit: Well, okay, Corsairs weren't really underpowered pre-nerf. It's just you never saw any high level ones like EVER.

I don't understand people that think that Windfury is still "hot shit." While it's true that in my PvE gear I can rip other PvE geared clothies a new asshole on a lucky proc, the second I go up against someone in PvP gear - with its very high stamina and resilience - I pretty much lose automatically if the person isn't retarded :\

But anyway, we're getting off topic.

10 more hours till I can play whooooo.

I'm not saying its "hot shit" though. I'm saying that its either SUPA ULTRA HYPA WIN MORE, or its "wtf it never procced and I died very slowly while the guy is at 20% and one proc from death half the fight." Which should not be the case, it shouldn't be so reliant on RNG.

I hate Ret and Enhance for being so god damn "auto-attack and pray for procs" playstyles. They are reducing a lot of annoying procs soon, but yeah. And as a Resto Shaman, Enh Shams can catch up to me easily, and they WILL purge my shield and just tear into my face faster than I can try to heal, all from a simple auto attack proc, while sitting there waiting to shock any attempts at a heal. They have problems, but I wouldn't say that Windfury is either overly strong nor underpowered. I would say its just a stupid unreliable mechanic that can either be god mode or underwhelming as shit, much like fear tends to be at times. You should not have that much of a guaranteed win/loss distance.

But yeah, wrong thread.

So I finished downloading and woke up at 4:00am on the 16th to start patching up Warhammer for head-start, and I think I've been playing ever since... save a few hours here and there for food.

Easily some of the most fun I've had on an MMO ever. The game looks great, feels great, has lots of character, and only a few minor bugs. The biggest one I encountered was today's, when Scenarios got totally borked and no one could play them. That wasn't all bad, however, because without scenarios Order and Destruction (finally!) took to the field. Had some good back and forth in Tier 2 today. I'm totally digging my Black Orc. (Btw, Black Orc /special is king of all /specials, with the Goblin's close behind.)

But man oh man, does the game slow up after rank 10. I have a total of like... 1.25 days played on my Orc so far (that's what happens when you graduate and don't have a job), and I think like 8 hours of that was getting to rank 10. I'm currently rank 16.

Some weapons, though, are just bizarre. There's a Rally Reward in like the Marshes of Madness for Black orcs... It's like, a 1-handed axe that has 1) more DPS than 2-handers of it's level and 2) a slower speed. I've finally managed to replace it, but Jesus if that wasn't a head-scratcher.

Public Quests definitely need to be more dynamic. The first ones are extremely memorable. You have giants demanding you to get them beer before they pick up a huuuge landmine and throw themselves against keep doors in kamikaze rushes.

Then in T2 it's like "Kill 100 of these fuckers. Okay, now kill 4 of these fuckers. Then kill this harder motherfucker" ad nauseum. Maybe I'm doing the wrong PQs... I know there are multiple per race per tier per zone. And I've also probably been doing them waaaaaaaaay too much, but most of the time I want those "Elite" rewards...

Oh, and De-Taunts can go fuck themselves. Hate "Wot Armor?"ing someone down to 25% armor, popping Taunt, then seeing a giant fucking BLUE DETAUNT go off on me right as I'm about to spike down a rune priest. akhgkdhgasgasg.

Best Buy emailed me earlier to inform me that regardless of what it said way back when I ordered my game with next day shipping, they are out of stock and I've been placed on back order and will have to wait 2 weeks till they get more, and no they don't have a cd key for me to play with until then.

Pretty lame. Its cool though, I'm busy anyways...

My copy was in the mail today, though I haven't checked it for a while. BB still hasn't emailed me to tell me they were "shipping it" but the date says it shipped on the 18th like it was supposed to. >.<

Regardless, I'll be playing tonight.

OH. HOLY. SHIT.

If you even try Warhammer, find your way to the first Warcamp you can get to and fly to your capital city. For Destruction side, I went to the Inevitable City, and holy fucking shit.

I think that thing gave me so much roleplay fodder its not funny. I fucking love that place, just walking around in it going "Wow."

The game is good, and I'm enjoying it.

Currently I'm a Witch Elf named Sesa on Ironbreaker.

All my dudes are on Azazel because the Goons are there and I like playing on a side that has overflow.

Yeah, the Inevitable City is pretty pimp. There's something amazing to look at no matter where you go, whether it's the center of the city with its pyramid-like Pain radiance thing, or towards the library with the immense, floating, cube-like monolith crackling with discharges of magical energies, or towards the northern end with the absolutely massive cathedral that broods over the city like a silent, implacable giant.

It's just "Whoa holy shit" all around.

I was planning to go there ... *twitches*

I might have to eat my words and goddamn well import this.

Games going good for me, only level 22, I'm taking it slow compared to most of my guild/friends.

Enjoying pretty much everything in the game so far, even the RvR scenario's that I got severely bored of in Warcraft, I am enjoying in WAR.

So what classes did you guys pick? If I get the game (have to wait until money comes through, which should be in the next week) my top choice is goblin shaman. It looks like the class I wanted WoW's shaman to be (no melee, but a blend of attack magic, buffing and healing).

Black Orc, because the orc I wanted to be, the Choppa, wasn't there, and the other melee classes annoy me. Marauders are alright but I really don't like their look. Witch Elves are fine, too. And they're also fine. So fine that you know every pre-pubescent boy is going to be playing them just to have something to stare and wank at. Yes, I know the lore is that they wear little clothing so that they can feel the blood on their flesh and such things but there's maybe 1 person in 100 that plays a Witch Elf because of Lore reasons.

I could care less about the clothing of the Witch Elf. It plays similar to a WoW Rogue, and I think that's where people are drawn in. I keep messing around with the female Chaos characters too because they look awesome, but the male ones actually look cool as well (I usually just hate the male models in any game).

My Witch Elf is nearly 8, keep flying her to different areas and trying other scenarios, but worried about getting too involved in it because from my experience in the past, if you and some friends want to play together, every one of them will adamantly insist that YOU reroll on THEIR server and in the mean time they continue leveling their asses off so that you never actually get to play with them if you even though you abandoned the character you were working on to do so.

I don't understand why more kiddies don't roll Sorceress. The models of the sorceress are a lot more attractive than on the witch elf, to me.

Mind you, maybe I just have trouble associating sex, and getting STABBED.

I rolled Blorc. (Black Orc) Cause I always play an offensive specced tank class. I always like to be a kind of... give a hit, take a hit, brawler.
