Spoilers of the Conan 10th anniversary special.
I just wanted to let you all know what was going to be happening there. I was one of the lucky few to actually get tickets and boy, was I pleased. I think that made my year. Huzzah for I!
It started with this opening comedian (a noname)introducing the band, who was quite magnificent if I do say so myself. Afterwards, there was a short video of Conan sitting on a bench with this other guy and he goes "hey, my 10th anniversary special is about to start! So they both get up and start running down the street, pulling people out of random stores to go run with him. Eventually they see this other celebrity (who I can't remember, an old washed up singer I think) and everyone goes and chases him, but Conan doesn't realize it. He's still running thinking everyone is behind him. He comes out on stage and says thank you to alot of people (including his parents, who, when they go to show their seats, the seats are empty). They show his highschool girlfriend, which is a poster of a girl, and they show his body double, which is a black guy wearing a wig. After that, they show a few clips and yadda yadda yadda. The rest all goes into a blur but I'll just mention a few of the highlights (in the order I remember them)
They had John Tesh, Abe Vigoda, and William Shatner on a 3 seater bike and they rode it off the stage, which was extremely funny.
Will Farrell showed up and he gave Conan a leprachaun strip tease (if you saw the episode where he was wearing the leprachaun outfit, he repeats it... very disgustingly funny)
Jack Black performed a song he wrote specifically for Conan, I never realized how short Jack was until I saw him on stage; he's practically a midget. The funniest part about the song was when he first made mention of Max Weinberg, he flipped his right drumstick into the wall, which I don't think showed up on camera. He comes out dressing like something from D&D and talks about how he pulls the mighty excalibur out of the ground. He also does this extremely weird midget dance/run where he kicks his legs out in front of him when he's maybe dropped to about 2 feet tall. It looks so cool, I wish I could do it.
Andy Richter does show up, yes. He's dressed like Thor and is lowered onto the stage. He has 4 muscly men come out holding up the letters to his name, and then when he eventually makes it to the ground, he had two hot women holding onto either arm. He eventually goes to leave and his 'wires get caught' as he flies away, so they drop the screen right in front of him showing all the special things he was involved in. When it ended, he was still hanging behind the screen while they raised it. After the commercial break began, he was lowered to the ground and lifted his hand to the audience and everyone was cheering. He made a great Thor, that's for sure.
They had all of the characters for the show there too. And his gigantic head was in the hall of the theatre. The show mainly consisted of clips from his 10 years, and I think 3 of the best things they showed were when Conan visted Ireland and he saw 'O'brien' Castle, which sat atop a hill with extremely bad wind. He said "I still don't understand why my ancestors left it!"
The other thing was when they were tracking down a stray MC Hammer Break Dancer. He was lost in a town and they were saying "We can't let him get startled." The other one was part of Andy's clips. It was when Conan was telling him about a hottub being put into the studio, and you couldn't go in with clothes, so Conan rips his robe off of him, and throws him through the door which is actually the set of "Today". So Andy just starts talking to the host (who's name I can't remember) and goes to sit down on the seat, so the host puts his notes down underneath him so he doesn't actually touch the leather.
The characters they had on the show were: The Coked up werewolf, the vomiting kermit, Joel Goddard (who comes out with his asian friend Yoshi-I think that's his name, I really don't remember), PimpBot (which hasn't been on the show for a while), and Triumph the insult comedy dog, which they also showed a video for.
